“Quality cuts”
Reviewed 11 December 2013

A friend recommended us this jap bbq near martin's place. It is situated at the corner of Medina Apartments at a back alley. We opted for the ala carte as we were not feeling very hungry. We ordered salad, pork, beef tongue, beef ribs, squid. The beef tongue and ribs were excellent and well marinated, super succulent..mmmm! The other dishes were not too bad but just didn't stand out. Definitely must go everytime i head back to sydney. Did not experience any bad service though, remember to book in advanced and don't be late. It does get crowded.

“Worth it!”
Reviewed 22 October 2013

Pricey as it may seem ($55 per person - all you can eat), it is well worth the price! Unlimited sashimi, raw wayyu beef, BBQ ribs, etc... are so perfectly delicious! Customer service is pretty good, compared to some other doggy all-you-can-eat restaurants. No doggy rules, no limit, as long as you are not wasting the food.

As I'm still a student, I can only enjoy this kind of buffet once in a while. If one day I become wealthy, I would definitely indulge myself here every week!

“Fit for a King”
Reviewed 24 June 2013

Portions are small, but it's a buffet so just order more.
We got the premium buffet and enjoyed it sooo much. It's well worth the extra $10.
The meats here were fresh, which is the most important thing in any restaurant. It is especially important when they serve a raw meat dish with the raw egg and you have to mix it together. It might sound very dodgy and send you home with food poisoning, but it's good stuff. It's safe to eat. I don't know what it's called, but ask the waiters.
Because of the time restriction, order a lot at the beginning and keep ordering through your 60 minutes or order time. You're allowed to stay there for 90 minutes, although we came in at 8-8.30ish, we were allowed to stay until 10.30pm (no other customers coming in and restaurant was closing).
Note that a few waiters didn't know how to speak english, which was quite annoying considering the restaurant is located in the middle of the CBD and a lot of customers were not japanese.
I can't wait to go back. Make sure you book though, they're busy!

“Buffett fill with great cooks!”
Reviewed 9 January 2013

Wanted something close to our hotel. Checked out the reviews of the options and decided on the Suminoya. Walked 5 minutes to be greeted, given our table, menu explained and older given. We did the standard cook your own banquet with several side dishes added.
You have 90 minutes and can't order after an hour but can continue to cook. we were both full by the hour.

The range was great, the food tasty, the service ok, and the cooks ( ourselves) brilliant.
