“Great atmosphere and good food!”
Reviewed 19 October 2013

Stopped in here for dinner and drinks after exploring the Rocks with a local friend. The atmosphere was vibrant and busy. I ordered the Macaroni bake...and my he ordered the Kangaroo pepper pizza. The Macaroni bake was not that impressive and I should have gone with the kangaroo pepper pizza. He was nice enough to share but I learned my lessen to always go with what a local suggests. Overall it was a good experience and I would definitely return but next time I would go with the pizza.

I stayed for five nights. Location in the Rocks is awesome; just a short walk to the ferries, bridge, and airport train station. The three legged table in my room speaks for the conditions in the lodging area. Drawers and windows difficult to move, temperature variations are extreme, and the noise is considerable. Noise comes from outdoor dining plus an open-air gymnasium across Cumberland Street with continuous basketball games. Common room serves a continental breakfast and is ok; it is stocked with ancient furniture. Restaurant has typical bar food. Staff are friendly.

Great staff, great pizza great beer great atmosphere The 10r old and teenager also enjoyed the pub .Late arvo was a great time for sitting outside and people watching. We visited 3 times over a 4 night stay at the rocks as it was the best spot for a beer and raspberry lemonade after a days sightseeing

We had crocodile pizza! A real hidden gem! It is near the entrance to the bridge climb and near a hostel, but unless you knew about it you would not think to look! Definitely worth trying the pizzas! Taste amazing and are worth the money!

Great pizza, great drinks, classic Aussie atmosphere. Big portions, cheap, friendly staff. Had a great night! Catered for me being vegetarian, and to my American friends wanting to try kangaroo and emu and crocodile.

This quirky hotel has upstairs accommodation which is cheap. The bathrooms are shared, there is a couple of lounge rooms, small rooms but clean and a great central place to stay. There are a lot of stairs to go down to circular quay so not a good place for older people and not diabled friendly accommodation. The drinks outside were really nice, the pizza looked good too (we didn't eat there). Would stay again.

This Hotel boasts Australia's longest continuous liquor licence. The building was also demolished and reassembled on its current location around the time of the bubonic plague in Sydney. Situated among the character and charm of one of Australia's oldest penal settlements at the Rocks it retains original characteristics and features and is truly an historical Australian Heritage Building.

If you are after a 5 star modern luxury hotel experience with all the trappings then this place will not be for you. It creaks, can be a little noisy from the street traffic and doesn't offer room service but if you want to experience a more rustic and sensual accommodation option that takes you back in time and affords you a restful sleep then this hotel is well worth the effort...and memorable.

It’s a B&B with a satisfactory queen size bed in a modest old world bedroom complete with pull cord light switch hanging from the pressed metal ceiling. It is serviced and clean and the shared bathroom facilities are again clean and sanitary. The continental breakfast served in the common dining room is plentiful and satisfying. It is enough to set you up for a day of exploring all the Rocks and greater city area of Sydney has to offer.

Regrettably I cannot comment on the food at the hotel as circumstance (so much choice around the area) put us elsewhere at dining time. The staff and management were very pleasant, accommodating and helpful.

Stay somewhere different for a night or two at a more affordable Sydney price tag...you won't regret it!
