“Ideal for Uluru tour”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 January 2014

We stayed at Alice Motor Inn for two nights to enable us to visit Uluru. The room we had was dated, but it served our needs. The location was quite and near to a supermarket and a short walk from Alice. Gee was very helpful and welcoming.

As with many travellers, we used the Alice motor Inn as a nights accommodation before and after a 3 day trip to Uluru.

The place has everything you need for this purpose. The rooms are clean and tidy, although a little dated. Our first room had a new carpet and smelt better than the second room, but to be honest I didn't care, having flown into Alice directly from the UK via dubai and Brisbane. The aircon in both rooms was noisey, the first night we turned it off, but just baked. the second night we had it on it's lowest setting and it was tolerable, at least we had aircon!

Alice Springs is a 1km walk, which dosn't sound far but in 45 degree heat, think about taking water, failing that, the local cabs are quite reasonable.

Breakfast is a self serve affair with toast and cereal and is perfectly adequate for a 5:30am start to your day.

We did not use the pool, but it looked very clean and tidy.

I have just one tiny gripe about the hotel and that is the left luggage policy. The hotel offer to store your bags free of charge whilst you are on your Uluru trip. This is fantastic and one of the reasons that we booked the Alice Motor Inn, but what is not apparent is that you have to have your bags in the lock up by 7pm the previous night, because the reception is not 24 hour. To be fair, this was explained to us at check in, but having just flown in, they could have told me the world would end at 7pm, all I wanted to do was sleep. As a result, we had to leave our bags at the side of the lock up at 5am and hope that a kind soul would deal with them.

That kind soul was Gee, the manager, who did in fact put our bags in the correct place and all was well 3 days later. A big thanks to Gee, it would have wrecked our holiday is our bags had gone missing.

All in all, a perfectly servicable little hotel and I would reccommend it.

Room Tip: If you are really stressed about a really clean room, ask for one with a new carpet.

We stayed here twice for two nights each time, sandwiching a tour to Uluru. Brilliant place to stay.

Great value for money with large rooms, a really pleasant pool area, free-to-use barbecue, fully equipped kitchen and complimentary wifi as well as a complimentary breakfast. Note that breakfast is set up and available from 4am to cater for the high proportion of visitors that depart early on tours. Nowhere in Australia have we found so much for the same price, nor with the thoughtfulness of the early breakfast.

Gee, the owner, was also a really nice guy and was exceedingly helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much hassle and we were made to feel welcome and safe. A 10 minute walk from town, a small supermarket and bottle shop less than 5 minutes away. What more could you need/want?

Booked the Alice Motor Inn as well as a 3 day/2 night tour of Ayers Rock with Emu Tours. The tour itself was booked via Alice Motor Inn which provided 25% discount off one of the nights as well as free storage for my suitcase while I was away on the tour.
I was pleasantly surprised by the standard of the room, which was roomy, had a good bathroom and reliable air conditioning (which is useful in 40 odd degree heat!).
The staff were very friendly and more than willing to offer advice on the local area. There are plenty of food options nearby and the centre of Alice Springs is approximately 15 minutes walk.
I highly recommend this accommodation which was great value.

We stayed for two nights after a 10 day trip through the Red Centre, driving up to Alice from Adelaide in a campervan. I wanted somewhere comfortable to relax for a night or two before flying back to Sydney, and this fitted the bill.

The motel is old-style. It reminded me of visiting a favourite maiden aunt - everything spotlessly clean and comfortable, but a bit faded. Our family room was huge, and the kitchenette had all the implements we needed.

We had plenty of food with us after our camping trip, but there is also a kitchen with toast and tea-making facilities for all guests. We were able to leave our unused food andother supplies in the kitchen for other travellers passing through, as had those who had gone before.

The weather was hot (for winter) and we were tempted into the pool. It was lovely and clean but we realised that, while the day-time temp might be 29 degrees C, at night it's still cold and the water was freezing! It was pleasant lounging beside it, though.

I spent three nights here in October, and fell in love with the place. Rooms are basic and clean, there is a shared kitchen on site where you can have breakfast (they supply cereal, bread, tea, coffee etc.). Good kitchen facilities, and guests leave supplies they do not want to bring with them when moving on so there was plenty of things like ketchup, mayo, butter etc. There is a large laundry room with washing machines, dryers, ironing board etc. Also an out doors clothesline. There is a small but very nice pool area with sunloungers around it, and a large outdoor BBQ for guests to use. We cooked on this on our last night and sat outside to eat and it was just lovely. The hotel manager Gee (pronounced "G") is smashing and helpful. I didn't like Alice Springs itself, but as a base for sightseeing it is perfect. This place was great fun, I actually enjoyed it more than some of the "fancier" hotels we stayed in on our big Oz adventure.

This place is a little far from the main city center - about 20 mins walk, but it is quite spacious. They provide complimentary breakfast, which is not extravagant, but keeps you going till lunch time. It is an ideal pick up point if you are doing the red center tour. Gee is very friendly, provides lots of good and sound advice, is very knowledgeable about the area and can be a real help if you are stuck for anything. We enjoyed staying here and would recommend it.
