The School of the Air is something I learned about in my school days, when we studied Australia ... and so it was the greatest of pleasures to finally see the school in action. It is a wonderful solution to educating children (and some adults also), given the immense distances between outback stations, and the unavailability of normal schools because of the distance, and its success proves the point. An excellent and informative visitor centre, with a well stocked souvenir shop, particularly stocking sensibleand educational items for children also. Well worth the visit.

After a brief film a speaker discussed the history of the school of the air and answered questions. We saw the studio where the instructors teach class.

Very interesting and makes you appreciate visionary thinking by Arev John Flynn. History of School of the Air is covered and you appreciate how incredible this education program is to some very isolated children.

This was a really interesting visit. You go into the actual school base and watch live teaching in the two studios or pre taped lessons if it is school holidays. The lady who hosted us gave us lots of information about the school, how it runs, it's history etc. Every question I thought of was answered before I could ask it! It is an amazing concept and is wonderful to see how it benefits the children of Australia. A small entrance fee which you are happy to pay as all proceeds go to the school.

We have 2 high school kids and they loved seeing how this school works and the one on one classes that they have. We watched a high school maths class and the kids loved it. The staff were amazing with both their knowledge and friendliness - would highly recommend this school for all visitors young and old. It was our favourite attraction in Alice Springs.
