A great insight to a slice of Australian history. You don't need to pay admission if you are not going into the film presentation (but leave a donation). Small museum but nicely done.

A very attractive facility with an interesting presentation. The video gives a good overview of the RFDS and there are plenty of static displays to look at, including a mock up of the interior of a plane with patients.

I went to go Alice Springs specifically to go to the flying doctors and I was disappointed. It is basically a very small museum (which was nice) and gift shop. On arrival our guide, (all he did was guide us into the cinema and answer 3 questions), seemed in a rush, talking very fast and rushing us, making the comment he had done this tour so many times. A short film was shown, which was quite interesting but more of PR film. Only time for 3 questions from the group!! More people had questions but we were told we had to leave the cinema (must leave time for shopping!!!!)The RFD do a fantastic job and I feel this tour does not do them justice. It was part of the Town Like Alice Tour so don't know how much it cost and I don't mind contributing to the RFD but it was disappointing.

The history that is show about how Central Australia was serviced by Doctors, nurses etc and the work of the pilots that flew the planes is remarkable.
