We stayed in both Lasseters Hotel and the Double Tree and found the Double Tree far better value for a family of 4 to stay in by offering a Junior Suite that accommodated all of us. The staff/service/room at Double tree were better overall.

We were very impressed with this hotel - did not know what to expect when you are in the middle of nowhere. Our room was on the 2nd floor in the complex closest to the building housing reception and the restaurants and facing the" mountain" range and golf course. It does seem a bit out of town, but taxi fare into town was about $12 - you certainly cannot walk into town as the heat when we were there was like stepping into an oven and that was in October. Certainly a good supply of drinking water is necessary if you want to explore the town. There is quite a nice mall in town with a huge grocery store. Our room had a nice balcony which we used in the evening and morning and watched all the rabbits on the golf course. There was a comfortable sofa in the room, good air conditioning and sufficient lighting to be able to relax and read.

Dear travellover 795943,

Thanks for taking a few moments to leave a review about your stay. I am delighted that you enjoyed yourself and your trip here to our unique part of the world. October certainly is the beginning of our, quite long, hot season; and you are right, a taxi is a great option when getting around in the heat.

If your travels should bring you to this part of the world again, we would love the opportunity to welcome you back.

Warm Regards,

Clinton Farley

My stay was for 2 days of business and it was very enjoyable. The room was large and comfortable, the food was very good, and the service and attention from all the staff was excellent. I will stay there again in Feb - it will be good to compare

I have stayed in a few different hotels in Alice Springs and have found this the best one. Staff are always friendly and helpful and the bedrooms are always clean and fresh. The Indian restaurant is a little expensive but has fantastic food, large portions and a great atmosphere. Well worth the money I think. It is on the other side of the Todd river so I would recommend a vehicle/ taxi to get into town after dark as there is some less desirable types that frequent the area.

This hotel looks very luxurious - spacious and glossy. The accommodation is in five interconnected blocks, across a huge courtyard with swimming pool and completely separate from the reception and restaurant buildings. Our room was excellent with a nice balcony in the 5th block. There is a very good guest laundry. The swimming pool was very nice but far too slippery. Our feet just slipped out from under us and could easily have caused an accident.

When we arrived, we were told to "go through that door and the accommodation is opposite". There is a lift in block 1 and block 5 but they didn't tell us that, and we went into block 1. We had already carried our very heavy bags across the yard and past the pool, and then we had to trail through to the 5th block to our room. It's a long walk when you have heavy bags. The guy at reception could have told us there was a lift in block 5 close to our room. We also found out afterwards that luggage trolleys were available but that wasn't mentioned either. We are both pensioners and found it difficult. We would have appreciated the heads up.

The restaurants were expensive so we only used it for breakfast, which was OK but not worth what we paid.

All the staff must hate their jobs because not one of them - from receptionist to cleaners ever smiled or said as much as good morning. The most miserable and unhelpful bunch we have ever come across.

The hotel in not too well situated if you don't have a car. It's a long walk in the heat to get into the town.

I would not stay there again.
