“A scenic option to Kings Canyon”
Reviewed 17 April 2014

The Ernest Giles road is an alternative scenic drive to kings Canyon, but longer than the Mereenie Loop Road.
Approximately 130km south towards Erldunda Roadhouse, the turn off will be on your right.
4WD only recommended here as there are some big dips, corrugations and deep sand on occasions.

(Option) 8km in, there is an option to turn to your right to see the Henbury meteorite craters with a further 5km drive to reach the carp ark.
You will find most literature, including the link below, stating that it can be reached by 2WD- believe me, it cannot, even with the short drive here.

A 100km drive on this scenic road will take you to Luritja road which is sealed from here on in.
Turn right and travel another 100km (approximately) on this sealed section of road to reach Kings Canyon.
