“View & good casual food”
Reviewed 10 February 2014 via mobile

Prawn salad, sea front view, glass of wine or beer, good company and you get a fabulous moment.

Be aware it is more a fast food than a restaurant style. Enjoy!

“Might as well go to your local fiosh and chip shop.”
Reviewed 1 February 2014

This is a restaurant which is really a fast food outlet with very confused décor in varying states of degradation and clutter shoved everywhere. La Beach used to be an ‘up market’ establishment but since the demise of its restaurant role and it’s been reborn as a fish and chip shop with a bar and a decent view of the ocean. Overall I’d say the fish is very good, the chips are ordinary and the service and atmosphere are just regular too, nothing outstanding. If you live in Cullen Bay then perhaps you could go here but if you live anywhere else in Darwin I’d suggest you rock up to your local fish and chip shop as La Beach is really not worth the drive. The last point I’d make is that the sauces are not free, you have to buy tomato sauce in those tiny tubs and at the prices La Beach charge at a minimum they could chuck some tomato sauce bottles out on the tables for their customers… The ‘menu’ is limited and it’s on the back wall behind the cash register. There is no paper menu.

“Amazing fish & chips, service & view”
Reviewed 29 January 2014

We had a lovely lunch here today, the owner was very helpful when we were ordering.
He recommended the battered fish and it was great, not oily at all. Te prawns were our highlight.
Best fish &chips we've had in a long time, possibly ever.

“Very disappointed”
Reviewed 21 January 2014 via mobile

Rang the day before and told them we had very brief stop over in Darwin between flights and were they opened for lunch. Informed definitely opened. Paid $20 for a cab to be informed by the same gentleman he forgot there was a private function and we couldn't eat. Apologised but made no effort to call us another cab to pay $20 for another cab back to the main part of town where the majority of restaurants are. Shame. Looked like lovely views.

“Classic fish and chips cooked to perfection.”
Reviewed 14 January 2014 via mobile

The food here cooked perfectly. If you are after premium fish and chips with a great view this is the place. The chef is friendly and likes to chat with customers. The venue is also child friendly. Be warned this place can get busy best to go early to ensure popular items on menu are not sold out.
