I only stayed one night here, having traveled to Darwin with the Ghan from Alice Springs and before heading off to Bali. This place has been recommended to me by a friend and I did not regret my choice: The hostel has a cool vibe to it, is well run and clean. What's best, laundry service is free of charge (most places in Australia charge 4 to 5 dollars) and there is a great free breakfast included (toast, cereal, OJ, tea, coffee, milk, jam, peanut butter, the lot). Darwin is not the best place as far as hostels are concerned - so I have heard - but the Dingo Moon is two thumbs up.

I stayed in this hostel for 2 nights. It was one of the best I've been to in Australia. Really good kitchen, clean and fully organized; free and rich breakfast; nice swimming pool; clean showers and toilets; nice conformable dorms.
It's into the main street, close to the city center, and also to the Grayhound bus stop (about 5 minutes on foot).
It's quite a relaxed hostel, but it's no problem to chat all night over a beer by the swimming pool - no screaming allowed.

Excellent hostel in the heart of Darwin. I stayed here for 8 nights whilst travelling. Like most hostels in the northern territory and west Australian it is more expensive per night compared to the east coast but don't let that put you off. Unlike a lot if the hostels on Mitchell Street, Dingo Moon was pleasantly quite, and situated away from the main nightlife area, perfect if you actually want to get some sleep in Darwin! With free laundry and a amazing breakfast selection you can't go far wrong! Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed here for one night when we got back from a trip around kakadu. We booked a double room which was clean and just what we needed after a lot of camping. There was aircon, a fan and a fridge in the room.

The location is pretty good on the more quiet part of Mitchell street.

Pool looked nice.

Breakfast is awesome: cereal, toast, English muffins, crumpets, croissants, muffins, fruit, Nutella, jam, pancakes. We were so surprised what hostels do this?! Amazing.

We had to check out at 10am but they kindly let us keep our luggage in storage until our flight out later that day.

Rooms were of average size, though still large enough everyone's bags (plus there was room to empty them). Beds themselves were comfy enough.

Staff were really lovely and helpful. Free breakfast was amazing- so much choice! And you could do laundry for free too. Also the hostel is very reasonably priced.

Good location, a little further down Mitchell St than the others, but judging by what I've heard about them, Dingo Moon is worth the extra few minutes walk.

Perfect location. On the Main Street of Darwin a few hundred yards from all the night life but far enough away not to hear it. Rooms are normal size with air conditioning a ceiling fan and a fridge. Very friendly hostel great free breakfasts and free laundry in the evening. Showers are basic. Owner very friendly aswell. I'd DEFINITALY stay here again.

Rooms were cramped, toilets and showers were only just passable, the whole place is a bit in need of some care and attention.

Reception weren't blindingly helpful but not unfriendly either.

Breakfast is good if they remember to replenish it.

No one respects the kitchen and staff do not enforce keeping this place clean so expect piles of washing up, dirty/black tea towels, no space to cook etc. better to eat out IMO.

By accounts of other travellers met, this is better than other hostels in Darwin...wow.
