“The best option in Darwin!”
Reviewed 26 December 2010

My family and I stayed here during the Xmas break for four nights - what a great apartment!

After researching all of the lodging options in Darwin we were fairly unimpressed by what Darwin had to offer: thank god we found the One30 apartments! We paid about $350/night and we are more than happy with what we ended up with.

Checkin is at this hotel which is about a 5min drive away - checkin was fairly chaotic but took a little over 5mins so it wasn't that much of a major. Note that they take a $200 refundable deposit along with the normal tariff at checkin.

The carpark at the property is a bit of nightmare to navigate, but a map is provided to help you find your car spot. The apartment itself is very new, and fitted out with decent quality furnishings. There are a small supply of reasonably quality bathroom amenities also.

The balcony is of a good size, and this is where we spent most of the time. The view is great and if you can handle the humidity of the wet season, you should definitely use the balcony for entertaining. The bedrooms are of a good size, and the beds are comfortable and ensure a good nights sleeps. The aircon works perfectly too, so thats a bonus. The separate family room was well used by our young one, who prompty set up the Xbox (we basically never saw him the whole time!)

My only gripe is that some normal amenities are lacking i.e.
- No "spray and wipe" to clean the benches
- No washing powder (not even a sachet to get you started!)
- No gladwrap/tin foil, so bring your own!
- No egg beaters (having to whisk our cream for the pavlova was interesting)

I would highly recommend this property to those that are unhappy with the normal hotel options in Darwin and who want something luxurious without breaking the bank.

Just like to say our stay at One30 was fabulous. We adored the luxurious waterfront apartment which was everything and more than the website covered. So new spacious, comfortable and modern with the most spectacular views wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else on a return trip. We love One30 and Darwin. Thanks so much!

This is a great place to stay if there are a few to accomodate. Our only issue was that when you fly into Darwin on the red eye special that lands you there after midnight and then by the time you collect your luggage and get the cab to take you to the Frontier hotel to book in the last thing you feel like is filling in more forms, which is what you need to do despite having done the booking online and given your credit card details over - so why is this necessary? While we were waiting for the man on the front desk who was slow to deal with the man in front of us our cab meter was ticking over. Having said that the man was helpful and courteous we don't blame him but felt this could have been an easier process. The apartment itself was all that the website said it would be. Modern, well appointed, fresh and comfortable are all descriptions it deserves. Our apartment had a very squeeky door which we complained about a couple of days into our 5 day stay when the housekeeping staff arrived and they had it attended to the day before we left. Couldn't complain about anything else we were on the 8th floor and had wonderful views, hardly any noise (the people in the apartment above had heavy feet) but the usual things that stop you from sleeping were not an issue (we were on level 8 but there were many floors higher than us - think it is around 18 floors high).
The kitchen could have had a few more useful things such as platters for entertaining, however, overall it had everything we needed and a number of things we didn't even use.
The showers were a delight with multi adjustments for height and pressure there was something for everyone except on our last day we did have an issue with only luke warm water being available....thank goodness we were in the tropics.
All Darwin accomodation seems to be very expensive for where you are but this worked out to allow us to self cater and save some money (BBQ downstairs near the back pool) we would otherwise have to spend on food. P.S. There is a very nice hotel just around the corner that has a great bistro if you want to eat out and a bottle shop for liquid refreshments. Whilst in Darwin we can also recommend the waterfront restuarants located at Cullen Bay, then there's the amazing new area near the Vibe/Grand Medina hotels that has a wave pool with safe swimming area and recreational spots with icecream and restaurants opening for lunch and dinner - worth the visit. Catching public 'Mercedes' buses for a couple of dollars each (pensioners free) is a great way to get about and see the sights and you can hop on and off the buses for one ticket over a three hour period...try doing that in Sydney!!!!!
Darwin markets has all the usual stuff we get at other markets and some other locally produced things...we bought some wonderful coffee beans (exotic mix) to bring home to remind us of our time. Enjoyed Darwin immensely.
Cheers, BFP

Three bedroom apartment was extremely spacious - 2 lounge rooms, 2 bathrooms, huge kitchen and laundry facilities. But the best thing is the large baclony with sweeping views of the Darwin harbour. Easy walk into the city centre with 2 pools, gym, tennis court on site.
Note - check in is at the Frontier Hotel so make sure you go there first - there is no service avaialbe at the actual hotel.
