After struggling to find a decent sounding hotel in central Darwin for under $250 for the last night of a Thailand/Singapore/Darwin trip for my 14 yr old daughter and myself, I booked Darwin Central with some reservation after reading some of the reviews. However I was pleasantly surprised.
The top (seventh) floor room with 2 queen beds was modern, spacious, and spotless. Better than average toiletries were supplied and the staff were friendly and helpful. Cannot comment on the food, as we didnt eat, however the 24 hr a day room service menu looked reasonable for hotel prices. With the air con I was cold with just a sheet on the bed (must be the Darwin way) but warm blankets were available in the cupboard,
The only downside was $12.50 per MINI bottle of wine from the mini bar, of which I had 2. Plus the bottle of red was refrigerated. After having free wifi everywhere overseas, I was annoyed at having to pay for this too - however at $2 a day I think that is probably very reasonable.
Would not hesitate recommending to family and friends, and would certainly stay again if we return to Darwin, thanksMore
