We booked a lagoon room and after a long flight from Bali we were excited to see our room however this excitement quickly passed when the rude late night check in guy told us we only had the lagoon view on the 2 nd floor not the lagoon access room. The website is misleading and for $360 a night in Darwin you would expect a top room. For every positive feature there were 2 negatives about this hotel. The room was big with basic but new interior and the bed was good however the pillows were lumpy and old. The bathroom was large and had a great size bath however the bathroom door was heavy and had a auto shutter on it and slammed every time. (not great with a sleeping baby) They had fantastic block out curtains however the bathroom window didn't have curtains and the morning light streamed through into the bedroom so the blackout curtains were a waist of space. We had no hot water the whole 2 days it was only luke warm and we could hear through the walls of our room and all the other bathroom doors slamming too. Room service breakfast was good and the service was great. The big positive was the lagoon pool and this would be the only reason to stay here. Its about a 45 min walk into Darwin city or a $20 cab ride, we asked at reception if there was a shuttle bus they said only a public bus (we have since learnt there is a shuttle bus 4 times a day) We have stayed in some of the best hotels all over the world and they have been the same price. This is a over priced hotel that is not 5 stars or worth the expensive rates.

Room Tip: Pay the huge fees for the lagoon access room this is the best the hotel has to offer

Im really only submiting this review to gloat. I stayed in the poolside Swim up room for 1 night, not sure how expensive it was but work paid for it...even better. Regardless of the price it is definately worth it.

I had a double shower in the room, which I turned both shower heads on when I used it...best feeling ever. Im 6ft 4inch and I got lost in the kingsize bed, the front deck overlooking the pool is nearly as big as a normal hotel room. A golf cart was used to transport me and my luggage to my room. Sitting on the front balcony in my comfy robe and slippers having a coffee in the morning was a great start to the day.

The only negative I had was the check in staff were a tad ignorant and not as usefull or happy as you would expect from a 5 star hotel.

I must apologise to the staff working at the restaurant opposite my room in the early morning, next time I stay I promise I will wear clothes before I go for an early morning swim ;)

This place is close enough for me to heaven.....

Our recent stay at Sky city Darwin was a great value enjoyable one. The free valet parking is a great touch in the wet season and was most unexpected. The room was a good size and had all of the facilities you would expect. The beds were comfortable and the room was serviced well every day. Extra towels were easy to get which is great with the fantastic pools on site. The onsite Italian eatery, Il Pietto was fairly good but a bit over priced I felt.

Stayed for 5 nights and were very impressed with the level of service and friendliness of the staff. Facilities were well above for what you would expect for the rates charged for the rooms.

24/7 pool access also made an impact on us as being on tours during the day meant we could come back for dinner and a cool off before going off to bed.

Only draw back of the room was wooden shutters on the sliding doors to the balcony did not close properly and either let light in or reduced our privacy in the room. At the start of the wet season the air-conditioning in the room was amazing and we slept comfortably at night.

Definitely would stay here again.

Dear John M,

Thank you for your great review of your stay. We are pleased to hear that you were able to really unwind after your day tours with a swim. I have noted your comments on the shutters and this is something we are currently looking at. I am glad you were able to get a comfortable night’s sleep however.

We look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

This our second time at Skycity and this time we stayed for 6 nights. The main attraction for us was the location on the beach, the pools and the relaxed environment - the casino does not interest us. We booked an Ocean View room which was a reasonable size, equipped with everything we needed, the ac worked well which was essential for this time of year (Jan.), bed was comfy, the small balcony was useful, and we even had a green tree frog visit our bathroom one evening. Yes the main hotel and rooms are getting old and needs a makeover however it was more than adequate for a relaxing stay. Staff friendly and helpful and no issues. Pools were great although a bit warm by the end of the day due to hot weather. Room rates are on the high side (as a most places in Darwin) and it would not be classed as 5 star in the other capital cities. All in all a good stay and we will go back again.

Stayed at Skycity Darwin after Christmas party that held there. Checked in was a breeze and staff was polite. We booked for Deluxe Ocean View, got it on the first floor and located on the furthest building from the beach so it's not ocean view since it was blocked by trees and it was far from the beach view anyway.
Room was not too bad since it have a big space. Didn't get the bathtub or spa in the bathroom, thought it would be nicer than just usual superior room. When i had a shower ad wanted to wash my hair i just realized there weren't any shampoo or conditioner and also toothbrush. Asked my husband to ask for toiletries and they send it quickly to our room.
Bed was quite comfy but my pillow was hard and didn't have a good sleep tried to changed pillow but all just hard.
Had food for room service and the food were great and yummy.
Overall.. For 5 star hotel, it doesn't feel like it..

Dear gimmiegimmies,

Thanks for the review. Sorry about the lack of toiletries in your room but am glad we were able to rectify the situation for you quickly. I will speak to our Housekeeping team to make sure that we keep an eye on restocking our amenities and make sure that the pillow menu is on clear view.

It’s great to hear you found the room service food to be delicious and the room to be a good size though. We hope to be able to welcome you back soon.

I stayed at Sky City with my family in mid December and was really impressed by the hotel. We stayed in a spa room in the older part of the hotel and it was lovely; the bathroom was clean and well fitted out, the beds were comfortable and our patio area peaceful. Both pools were fantastic and a great place to unwind. We ate at Sunset restaurant for breakfast which wad adequate for a buffet and IlPiatto for dinner which was very impressive. Overall I would recommend Ski City to anyone looking for a peaceful hotel with great pools to relax in .

Dear carlyw5,

Thanks for the review. The pools are amazing here, the infinity edge pool is a perfect vantage point to watch the sunset over a glass of wine and the lagoon pool is great for sipping on a cocktail on the man-made beach.
