“Darwin World War II history”
Reviewed 9 August 2014

Spent a great couple of hours here wandering around the internal museum and exhibits and the external huge gun placements, through the bunkers. There were interesting information cards placed at all the exhibits. It was good finishing with the short video of the Darwin Bombing.

“Well worth spending a few hours here prior to sunset”
Reviewed 30 July 2014

The bottom line up front is that this is a great place to have a picnic, take a long walk, go for a bicycle ride, and just enjoy the cliffside scenery. My recommendation is to visit the Darwin Military Museum first by bicycle or taxi (which is at the end of the East Point Reserve), and then cycle or walk back to central Darwin from the museum along the coastal walk of the East Point Reserve. There are many beautiful photo spots, and along the way you will eventually reach Mindil Beach, which is where we witnessed one of the most beautiful sunsets that we have ever seen (for reference, we have been to California, Hawaii, New Zealand, coastal and mountainous parts of Canada, and others). While Mindil Beach can seem sort of commercialised now, due to the nearby casino and night markets, there is a portion of it that is away from all of that - find it, as it is worth it.
