“Library set inside Parliament house”

Lovely colonial style building with high ceilings and water views. Open spaces with a large Darwin travel book section if you need help identifying local plants ,animals or planning your trip. Information centre is nearby so good combo.

“So helpful and offering FREE internet!”
Reviewed 23 July 2014

Apart from its situation in the air-conditioned comfort of the magnificent Parliament House, the Library offers photocopying facilities (20c a page) and free inernet connections, either for a quick 20 minutes or, if you place your name in the computer reservation system, for one hour (but you may need to wait an hour or more to get it). There are about 10 free computers, and the Library opens at 10.00am Monday to Friday, and also on Saturdays (with more restricted opening hours), and houses interesting historical papwers relating to the development of the Northern Territory, the 64 Japanese air raids it endured in WWII (when more tonnage was dropped on the harbour than at Pearl Harbour), and memorabilia, including parts of the bombed Post Office and schrapnel recovered from its site. The staff are unfailingly friendly and helpful, especially if, like me, you're technologically challenged!

“Community space with atmosphere”
Reviewed 10 July 2014 via mobile

I spent a few days here researching some NT travel destinations, reading international and interstate magazines, catching up with news online and checking out the exhibitions and art work . Pretty cool place to hang, I met some people, found out about arts stuff happening around town and l enjoyed looking at the old maps. On the wall is a signed transcript of the 'apology ' to indigenous people. According to library staff it's one of only three. Coffee shop over looking the harbour is great too.

Could only see Parliament house which was nice but would have been better if library and coffee shop had been open too.
