“Great spot, beautiful views and comfortable room”
Reviewed 22 September 2012

We spent two nights in a King Ocean Room view. The view from the room and the little balcony is spectacular and it's great to be able to open the windows. The beds are luxuriously comfortable and the rooms and hotel feel crisp, cool and relaxed. The hotel is in easy walking distance to all of Darwin's precincts and it's lovely to walk along the Esplanade, especially in the morning and around sunset - it's a great location.
Can't go wrong with this reliable hotel.

Room Tip: Ocean room views do indeed have great views.

We loved the location of this hotel, after staying 1 night on Mitchell St you realise how noisy it is, the esplanade was much better. We had the breakfast one morning before heading on a Kakadu tour. It was okay, but a huge ripoff, as it is in most australian hotels. I'd recommend leaving the hotel if you have time. The pool is nice, but unfortunately shaded for most of the day, head down to the waterfront instead. Our room was large and very comfortable, a beautiful view of the water (which i think most rooms at least party had). The staff were friendly and helpful.

We had a really nice stay. I like a mix of professionalism with down-to-earth humility and the staff nailed this superbly without exception.

Rooms were good with being austentayshus. No view from my room, but his just encouraged me more to go out and explore the city of Darwin.

Very good.

This hotel was better than expected. Even though this hotel was the older of the two Holiday Inn hotels on the esplanade, it was better looking from the outside than the other hotel. The rooms were updated and quite roomy for a double. We had a harbour view room and though the view was lovely, the balcony was tiny and standing room only! I was hoping for a balcony with chairs, at the very least. There was no room for furniture.
The staff were friendly and we enjoyed our stay. We didn't eat at the hotel as we were within walking distance to several restaurants.

Really enjoyed the peaceful water and park view from the window. Harbour look out just a short walk away through the park. Good for a relaxing holiday base. Free shuttle bus to Parap market every 45 minutes. Also $4 shuttle to Mindil market every 20 minutes. The bathroom was not as bad as some has commented but was acceptable for me.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the harbour even the lower floors have nice view

$426 a night this place was. I am currently staying in the Sofitel in Melbourne for $100 less than that and it is 100 times better.
We stayed in a 'deluxe' king room. I would love to know what they consider deluxe about it and even more so, would love to see the non deluxe rooms, perhaps they don't have pillows?
Service was friendly enough but the room was small, basic and the bathroom dark, teeny tiny, old and had a minuscule plastic tub with shower than ran cold over it. In order to get hot water, you have to turn the hot tap over the basin on and run until that gets not, then turn the shower back on. The room was never made up completely, they would sometimes forget to finish making the bed, they almost never restocked the water in the mini bar, usually we had to call and order it. The pool area was in the shade all afternoon rendering it unusable after lunchtime and one day I went down in the morning to find our cocktail glasses from the morning before still sitting on the table. Breakfast was basic for the money they asked.
Only 3 options for 24 hour dining. Where did they get the rating from? How can they possibly charge such huge amounts for what is barely any better than a backpackers ? Anyway, i shall promptly put that terrible rip off out of my mind and get back to the current reality of my large luxurious $360 a night Melbourne hotel. Darwin, you should be ashamed.

Stayed 6 nights 16-22 August 2012.
Very good, clean, everything worked, staff excellent, good parking and location.
credit card surcharge.
Not noisy but could hear sounds from outside as has older model sliding door.
Would recommend.

Room Tip: Maybe rooms facing the Esplanade are quieter/
