Description: Nestled in the revamped sandstone building of Victoria Arcade is The Pearl, a little Parisenne Salon. Interior reminiscent of the little bistro down a hidden laneway in Paris- complete with dramatic feature walls dotted with vintage mirrors, a tiled bar and decadent pendant lamps. The cusine is modern Australian with a french influence and offers Lunch Thursday and Friday, Dinner Tuesday to Saturday and All day Brunch on Saturday. With a well stocked bar of top shelf spirits Pearl has garnered the reputation of having the best cocktails in town, and if dinner is on your mind then the Prix Fixe menu with matched wines is a must try. Bookings are essential as this tiny little salon fills up fast. Dryseason a table in the courtyard is a must.

“Unique & Interesting Food & Wine Selection”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 August 2014

My wife and I came for some quiet drinks and dinner on a Friday night and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. A unique wine selection and amazing food made for a delightful evening. In particular the Duck Rillette was outstanding, along with the Tempranillo that they have in stock.

The menu is diverse and interesting, being a combination of small and large plates. This makes for a wonderful way to eat and drink your way through late into the evening, chatting and drinking with other patrons.

“Dinner is a joke”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 August 2014 via mobile

Having heard the Pearl was offering dinner, I came to try it out. The place was empty, but the menu looked good. I ordered the garfish ($24) which the waiter cautioned was not a large dish and I accepted his suggestion of an additional dish of peas, mint, and cheese ($9). While the fish was nice and well cooked, it appeared to be somewhere around 30-40 g of portion, which was ridiculously small. About tapas size, no more. After being asked, and giving my feedback about the lack of reasonable value, no attempt was made to rectify, however if I wanted to continue to order more and spend more, that was fine. Very disappointing. Highly I recommended unless you want to spend $100 for a full meal.

“Interesting menu but didn't quite deliver”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 July 2014 via mobile

Setting and service was good but didn't deliver on the food we expected for the price of brunch. I can't comment on the coffee as they were out of decaf but my partner said it was ok.
I chose to have 2 poached eggs and quarter avocado on sourdough (charged $4 for each item!) which would have been ok, had it not been on a tiny piece of very crispy sourdough for $16. My partner had the ocean trout on sourdough with radish, egg etc. Again tasty, but on the tiniest bit of toast and $19. Either they were running low on bread that day or they are rather tight with the bread generally. I was going to ask for more bread but didn't get chance to ask anyone or want to wait so not sure what would have happened then. Still seemed a very small portion for the price and so we left feeling a little ripped off unfortunately, as we thought it would be great.

“What a Pearler!”

Brilliant service with a smile. The Pearl takes pride in everything they do, from the delicious and creative menu to fabulous coffee. Don't visit Darwin without visiting The Pearl.

“lovely brekky”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 July 2014

I had the avocado/priscutto on sour dough with a poached egg - the priscutto was sublime (could have had a whole plate of this) the egg cooked well and the accompaniments of tomato and mushroom were tasty but perhaps could have been slightly bigger. My friend had the bubble and squeak and thoroughly enjoyed it!!! The coffee was delicious and moorish..the service prompt...I will definitely be coming back here for more brekkys!!
