A peaceful retreat surrounded by birds. Excellent hosts who make for a memorable stay. Very nice spacious accommodation - well presented. Each independent cabin has its own ensuite and is well spaced from other cabins. Food was excellent and Gary had gone to a lot of trouble cater for us. The bird life was terrific.

Being on a tour we sadly only had one night - the hosts Sue and Gary are superb, Gary the chef served a fabulous 3 course dinner - that was very welcome - lots of fresh fruit and vegetables. Dinner time was a riotous affair!
The location is a little remote but has a lovely billabong with lots of bird life including a returning Jabiru who has been named Tomtom (later found to be a female!). Many wallabies were around in the evening but not visible in the morning. There are 2 very friendly, well behaved, much loved dogs who greet everyone and are very entertaining. If the weather is a bit wet there is a very informative library on the verandah with books and board games for all ages - but I doubt you'll have much time for reading.

We stayed 4 nights in Lotusbird Lodge on a birding holiday. If you enjoy watching birds and wildlife, this is the place to do it in luxury and in a great and friendly atmosphere with hosts Sue and Garry. We saw golden shouldered parrots, a lovely fairy wren (male and female), red backed fairy wren, black winged buzard, numerous jacanas and other water birds and lots of other birds and wildlife. Sue also breeds gouldian finches and it was great to see their lovely colours close up.

The cabins are beautifully maintained, all in wood, with a generously sized room, balcony overlooking a billabong & bathroom. Very clean, nice fluffy towels and comfortable beds. A splash in the spa after a day of exploring followed by Garry's generous 5* food was the icing on a marvelous stay.

Room Tip: All cabins are close to the large billabong full of birds.

My husband & I spent 3 days at Lotusbird Lodge, on a 10 day bird watching tour, organised by Sicklebill Safaris.

3 days well spent. The lodge is in a delightful location, overlooking it's own billabong, surrounded by trees. The chalets are lovely, made of wood and have a balcony onverlooking the billabong. At night Sue feeds the local Agile Wallabies which can be seen from your chalet.

There are alot of birds around and for birders the main reason to go there is for the Golden Shouldered Parrots. We were not disappointed - we saw approx 30 feeding on a nearbny station.

It was a joy to jump into the cool outdoor spa after the long journey with a stubbie & plastic crocodile for company!

Gary's cooking & Sue's attention to detail make this a wonderful retreat.

Stayed 2 nights. in a Chalet ,very modern with en suite and a balcony that faced the billabong. The Main hall a good size with a balcony that also overlooks the water. Gary and Sue are excellent hosts. The service, food and knowledge of the local bird life is outstanding.Could stay here for a month and not get bored.Regret that we had to go so soon. Love to come back.
