Very clean and a very good wifi connection! Only stayed one night but would stay again. The location is a little out of town but not too far if you hire a bike. The kitchen was really big for cooking your own meals and everyone seemed to hang out together on the terrace.

Minto was our first hostel stop at the start of our travelling trip around australia. After talking to other people who we're staying there, the agreement was it's one of the best.

I'd say we picked a good first start as it's quiet and fairly relaxing. You don't often see people around but when you do everyone's friendly.
Upon arrival check in was easy, our name was on paper with our room number and the key was inside the room. The room was clean and tidy, we had a double room, with fridge fan tv and desk. The doors opened to the veranda (fab views of the city) and the beds weren't too bad comfort wise.

The kitchen wasn't too bad - toaster was a bit temperamental and sometimes there were other guests dishes but generally clean, as we're the bathrooms. We seen the cleaner nearly everyday :)
There is a washing machine, we didn't use it though as the laundrette is just over the road alongside an off license and a convenience store.

There's a bus stop pretty much outside and once you get the hang of the busses you can get around fairly easily. South bank is about 10/15 min walk away and the city about 25 mins, all easy to get to via bridges and walk ways.

All I'd say is be prepared for a few hills! :) unless you're exceptionally fit like most of the people we seen jogging all day.

We are staying here again when we're back in brisbane for a festival so yeah all in all a good hostel/guest house.

Room Tip: We liked the double room as it gave us extra space for back pack etc.

This is the best hostel I have stayed in so far. The house is just beautiful, the beds are comfy, and sitting on the front patio in the evening with a drink chatting with the other guests is one of the highlights of the day. The hostel seems to attract guests of the considerate type, which is a very welcome difference. There are fans in the rooms but no air-conditioning. There is free street parking right in front of the hostel.

Room Tip: One room has a window to the front patio, which might get a bis noisy in the evenings.

Absolutely loved this place...set in the lovey area of Highgate. The accommodation is an old colonial property....with all original features, which I loved. The room was great, very light and airy and quiet at night. Ideally situated for the Southbank area...roughly 10-15 min walk. Transport links are good, there's Southbank Station on Vulture St...10 min walk or the bus stop just outside the property.....but it was just as easy to walk...just keep oing downhill and straight ahead and you soon reach the South bank area...where it all happens. Had breakfast on the decked veranda every morning with fabulous views of downtown Brisbane, very relaxed atmosphere. Bathroom and kitchen facilities were great all clean and tidy like the bedroom. It's a self-checkin system...which is very easy and user friendly....all guest names due to arrive that day are on a sheet of paper on the wall facing you as you enter the property, with room numbers assigned to each guest....no hassle of form filling etc. Staff very friendly and nothing was a bother. Thanks again...really loved it here, just like home from home!

Very clean spacious room. Makes you feel like you are in the country side in a cottage, very relaxed atmosphere and close proximity to public transport. I enjoyed myself and would recommend it for anyone when in Brisbane.

After going between different hostels of varying grades of cleanliness, what a pleasant and refreshing break to be here! My friend and I were so happy to have our own room after being in dorms for a number of weeks, and staying here is just like renting a lovely cottage or house. Very homely, it was so nice to relax out on a couch and watch TV if you wanted. Kitchen is fine, has everything you need. Rooms are pleasant, bed very comfortable and ample parking outside the property which is free. There is also a lovely verandah outside, where you can sit and see the skyline of Brisbane.

It is confusing when you arrive as the front door is just open and it's pretty much a self check in process- your names and room number are listed on a piece of paper pinned to the notice board, and the room key is inside the room. (Door already open). There is free WiFi- rare in Australia we discovered!

I don't recall seeing much 'staff' or an owner really, which was a little annoying, as our plans had changed, and we could only stay 3 nights when we had booked 4, so there was no way I could get my 1 night's money back or request a credit note.

We didn't really run into many other people staying there, but that didn't bother us so much. If you were alone, you may have been a bit lonely. I would definitely stay here again when in Brisbane though.
