“short stay, but highly worth it”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 May 2014

I stayed here alone for only the weekend. It was definitely a place I'd go back to. I arrived late but was greeted without any fuss by Jen, one of the managers. She was friendly and very welcoming. There was no barrier of customer-staff member that you might find at other hotels or hostels. My room was clean, with a fridge and small television. Perfect for a two night stay.

The area is rather hilly, so if you're in a position to hire a car, do it. I walked for everything - the CBD and the Gabba, which each took roughly 30 minutes.

There is room to relax on a couch, cook food in the shared kitchen or just sit on the deck and enjoy the view of the Brisbane CBD.

Good value. Good place. Highly recommend.

The good, nice and easy to find easy check in friendly staff willing to help. It was clean and tidy.
The bad was the room had a mattress that was at the very low end of the market it was hard as hell.. No fans in the rooms at all no air conditioning . The wall were that thin you could hear when the person in the next room got out of bed or talked or sneezed.
No fly screens in the house so I was eaten by the night life. I will not stay here again value for money low . Can opener did not work.

Room Tip: Dont stay here

I stayed here for three days on a recent trip to Brisbane. Great management - unobtrusive but helpful when needed. Quiet and relaxed. Big kitchen for cooking. Great views of the city and close to transport to get into the city and Southbank. Bruno an exceptiionally cute dog also occassionally makes a visit. Would recommend to anyone looking for reasonable priced accommodation in Brisbane.

Very clean and a very good wifi connection! Only stayed one night but would stay again. The location is a little out of town but not too far if you hire a bike. The kitchen was really big for cooking your own meals and everyone seemed to hang out together on the terrace.

Minto was our first hostel stop at the start of our travelling trip around australia. After talking to other people who we're staying there, the agreement was it's one of the best.

I'd say we picked a good first start as it's quiet and fairly relaxing. You don't often see people around but when you do everyone's friendly.
Upon arrival check in was easy, our name was on paper with our room number and the key was inside the room. The room was clean and tidy, we had a double room, with fridge fan tv and desk. The doors opened to the veranda (fab views of the city) and the beds weren't too bad comfort wise.

The kitchen wasn't too bad - toaster was a bit temperamental and sometimes there were other guests dishes but generally clean, as we're the bathrooms. We seen the cleaner nearly everyday :)
There is a washing machine, we didn't use it though as the laundrette is just over the road alongside an off license and a convenience store.

There's a bus stop pretty much outside and once you get the hang of the busses you can get around fairly easily. South bank is about 10/15 min walk away and the city about 25 mins, all easy to get to via bridges and walk ways.

All I'd say is be prepared for a few hills! :) unless you're exceptionally fit like most of the people we seen jogging all day.

We are staying here again when we're back in brisbane for a festival so yeah all in all a good hostel/guest house.

Room Tip: We liked the double room as it gave us extra space for back pack etc.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 December 2013

This is the best hostel I have stayed in so far. The house is just beautiful, the beds are comfy, and sitting on the front patio in the evening with a drink chatting with the other guests is one of the highlights of the day. The hostel seems to attract guests of the considerate type, which is a very welcome difference. There are fans in the rooms but no air-conditioning. There is free street parking right in front of the hostel.

Room Tip: One room has a window to the front patio, which might get a bis noisy in the evenings.
