“Nice little Gem..”
Reviewed 13 November 2013

We frequently travel to Brisbane as we have family there, and would normally stay with them. However we decided we needed our own space and as the village was not to far from them it suited us perfectly. Check in was a breeze and a very straight forward process, and the staff on the front counter were lovely. We booked 2 nights in a standard villa and we were located right next to the pool. The villa was more that adequate for our needs - small kitchen, air conditioning, ceiling fans, double bed and triple bunks! We didn't want the bunks to go to waste as it was only my partner and I travelling, however we rounded up our niece and nephew to make the most of it and they thoroughly enjoyed staying with us. The onsite cafe was very efficent and breakfast (which was included in our stay) was lovely. The kids enjoyed the pool area and it was great having a carpark right next to the room. Overall a most enjoyable stay, and we would definitely return and can recomment to all!

We fell into the trap of thinking this hotel was close to the airport. It cost us $45 one way! You could be better off just going into central Brisbane. Also note that after 10pm you will struggle to find any food around here, it is quite off the beaten track. Having said that, the rooms were impeccable and the service was good. Can't fault these.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for taking the time to post a review for our property. Great to read that you enjoyed your stay.
Our property is located only 14 kms from the Airport; with the airport surcharge and the taxi surcharge for not paying cash, a $40-$45 dollar fare is not unusual. It is $25 just to get to the large hotel on the airport road. Our property is located in the northern suburbs of Brisbane City and unfortunately at the late hour of 10pm, dining out options are quite slim. However, during the day and early evening there are numerous outlets catering for all tastes and budgets located onsite or close-by.
Thanks again, Marika Thauer

The staff at check in were most helpful an the shop at reception was quite reasonable.

The room was nice and clean and there were no loud noises to deter sleep. Cooking equipment was included, eg. Plates, cooker etc.

Iv seen a few reviews saying this place had good access to the airport, while it was only 20 minutes away, this meant a rather expensive ($50) each way.

Overall a pleasant experience, which I would certainly recommend.

I booked this accomodation after reading trip advisor reviews. The room was meant to be an Executive room, i feel it is in the Budget range. The wardrobe door opens up against the door mechanism and therefore won't open fully. The blankets on the bed are very old and ugly. The bathroom fittings are the old plastic variety and tapware is in poor condition, very small vanity top, exposed plumbing and a shower curtain ( do they still make them?) Aparently housekeeping had forgotten to put a bath mat or hand towels in the room. We arrived at night so slopped around on the wet floor. The towel rail is so close to the toilet i refused to put my towel on it.
I requested a bathmat next morning and a nice polite young lady delivered it around 3.30, i asked when housekeeping were going to clean the room, oops! much to late, a swift apoligy and that was it. Overall a very ordinary experience, with the exception of the prompt and efficient Cafe staff.

Room Tip: Choose another property.

Dear Colleen, thank you for your comments regarding your stay at our property. It is disappointing to read that your stay was not at least to your expectations. Although our motel bathrooms are small and the design may not be suitable to all, they are very clean and functional. The blankets on the bed are only 12 months old and could not be described as old and ugly. Not sure about the towel rail position comment. The room type that you occupied was a Superior Room. I have addressed the matter with regards to your room not having the daily service. Regards, Marika Thauer

In Brisbane for the Ekka and doctors visits. Can't fault this place at all. This was our 4th stay and once again the room was spotless, bed was very comfortable and much needed after a day at the Ekka. Our bathroom light was out and was promptly replaced when we notified staff. We enjoyed breakfast both mornings at the on site cafe, all very good there. Pleasant staff and good food.
Public transport basically at the front door.
The gardens here are just beautiful and very well maintained, a real credit to the park.
Would highly recommend to all coming to Brisbane.
Will defiantly be returning.

We just spent a night in a studio room in order to take an early flight. The hotel is well located provided you have a car. Our tariff included a choice of eggs on toast or cereal and toast. The eggs were cooked perfectly. The room was clean although dated. Our room backed onto the cafe and the noise from the kitchens exhaust fans could prove to be a problem if you were staying longer. The towels could do with replacing as they were small and worn. The reception was friendly, helpful and efficient. There was no on site restaurant for an evening meal but were recommended to go to a tavern 500m down the road. We are glad we took their advice as the steak there was one of the best we have eaten in a very long time and a steal at $12.95. The grounds appeared well kept but we did not have time to explore the rest of the property. Although I have rated the property average I think it probably sits between that and very good. For our purpose it fitted the bill but I think I would choose somewhere different if I was looking for a holiday destination.

Room Tip: Away from road and restaurant would be the better choice
