“Our 6 month stay!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 July 2012

When our landlord would not give us a short term lease while we waited for our house build to finish, we desperately looked for somewhere to stay. Short term leases are very hard to get so discovering Ashbourne House was a god-send. Kathy and Tony have been very friendly and flexible and we are now coming to the end of our 6 month stay here. There is a variety of accommodation on offer but we have been staying on the ground floor of the second house (fronting Dovedale Crescent). Being a new renovation, it is finished to a high standard and we have been very comfortable here. I would not hesitate in recommending Ashbourne House for short or long stays.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we hope to return. The house was well equipped and very comfortable. Kathy, our host was terrific - the breakfast pack was more than generous. The house is in a leafy and quiet location. Robyn C

We stayed at Ashbourne house for a month on a corporate let arranged by my husbands company. Sadly it was not a happy experience for us and we cut our stay short and found alternative accomodation. We found Ashbourne house dark and stuffy. There are no insect nets on the windows which means you have to have the windows closed much of the time and all the glass is frosted so you cannot see out.

The interior is furnished with a large amount of the owners personal knick-knacks, lace doilies, ornate cushions and books, which I was informed were very expensive. Not ideal with 2 children under 5! When we arrived, I had to spend a long time de cluttering to avoid acidents. Kathy made regular gardening visits and was not happy with the children playing in the garden.

Overall, I would say if you have children give Ashbourne House a big miss as ours were not made to feel at all welcome.

My family and I stayed at Ashbourne House for 2 weeks (Dec 2011). It was home away from home, in that, the beds were cosy, a fully equipped kitchen where many meals were prepared and laundry facilities which comes in handy with a toddler.
Our host Kathy made us feel very welcomed and I enjoyed our "morning chats".
We will be returning to Brisbane on a yearly basis and we will most definitely be staying at Ashbourne House again. I highly recommend it

From the fresh cut flowers to the chocolates and Kathy's beautiful bircher muesli at breakfast, you will feel spoilt and relaxed at Ashbourne House. Utterly devine bedding, a fully functional kitchen and peaceful verandah to relax on and indulge in afternoon teas and Kathys wonderful breakfast. A great combination of selfcatering/catered accomodation.

I stayed at Ashbourne House with my family in August 2011 and received a very warm treatment from our host Kathy. After our long flight from Germany, we could finally relax in this beautifully furbished B&B and enjoyed the rich home-made breakfast every morning. If we come back to Brisbane, we will definitely stay here again.
