Owner description: The Koala and River Cruise is a memorable journey on the Brisbane River to the renowned Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. This popular cruise has been taking locals and visitors to the park for over 60 years and is a "must do" experience during your stay in Brisbane.  You’ll board your boat in Brisbane’s Southbank district and leave the city behind on a relaxing cruise to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary.  Enjoy an informative commentary from your captain as you glide along Brisbane’s waterfront, passing from the bustle of the city’s skyscrapers to leafy suburbs with waterside mansions.  Explore the world’s largest koala sanctuary, with more than 130 Koalas on site.  Hold a koala, take photos with the adorable marsupials (own expense), and perhaps catch a talk by the koala’s keepers.  Discover the Platypus House where you may get a chance to see the shy platypus  Check out owls, kites and sea eagles soar above you at the popular Birds of Prey show.  Relax on our ultra-modern cruise boat and indulge in homemade meals and snacks or enjoy a glass of our Australian wine or beer from our on-board cafe.

We were excited to take this cruise to see those cute koalas!
The cruise took about an hour and a half to get to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. There was an entertaining and informative taped audio presentation on the history of Brisbane and the sights along the way. The seating was plastic lawn chairs. There were blankets in a basket that I really appreciated having since it was a cooler day. There are drinks and snacks for sale. I wish were given a little bit longer time at the sanctuary so we could take in all the shows and spend a little time at the gift shop. We saw some fruit bars hanging in trees and many birds. We enjoyed this cruise.

Fabulous day on the water and at Lone Pine Sanctuary. There is nothing quite as adorable as having your picture taken with a Koala or feeding a joey in her mother's pouch. Just the right amount of time on the boat and with the animals. A must when visiting Brisbane.

The Miramar Day Cruise to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is enjoyable, relaxing, and informative. The river cruise is interesting and there was good narrative during the cruise to the the sanctuary. The captain and staff were friendly and helpful and provided additional information to the narrative. The Lone Pine Sanctuary provided a great way to see the "roos" and koalas as well as the birds and other wild life. The trip on the Brisbane River provide a different view of the city and is enjoyable. Take lots of pictures and get your photo with the koala, which is reasonably priced. There are alternatives to making the round trip if you want to use city transit or have other transport.

Wonderful cruise down the river. My wife wanted to go and I did not, BUT, after boarding the boat and seeing Brisbane from the boat (with commentary), I enjoyed it very much. The animal sanctuary was a great outing.
