Yum Cha at Shangrila has always been good, but we had a very unpleasant dinner experience today. Even though they showed us a " fresh" crab initially, the crab which was served to us smelt of ammonia and was slimy indicative of a dead crab. The fish served was definitely not fresh. The fish in the tank had parasites commonly seen in overcrowding/dirty tanks. We don't recommend eating seafood at this restaurant.

We came here for my daughter's birthday brunch and we couldn't have been happier. They were able to accommodate our group of 10 people without a problem. The wait staff were friendly, attentive and were eager to help. The food is actually better than what you get in most yum cha places around Brisbane because it is fresh and not greasy. Also, Shangrila is not as noisy as most Asian restaurants. Everything was reasonably priced. The only downside was the 4% surcharge if you want to pay with an Amex, which is rather a lot. Overall, this place is a great restaurant to enjoy a relaxing and delicious meal.

Have been coming here for about 3 years, and always find the experience excellent. the food is delicious. You could almost pick anything at all and would encounter a wonderful treat. Whist the Service may not be 5 star, they do their best to accommodate, We have been there with large parties including children and babies and they make every effort to meet our needs.

My last visit was with only a party of four. Again the food was hot tasty and plentiful.

Our Favourite time to go is on a weekend at around 10:30. Plenty of tables, the food is fresh.

I think the pricing is good.

Overall good value for a very pleasant dining experience with friends.

We will go again and I cam very happy to recommend and endorse this restaurant.

Got here on a Sunday afternoon. Was expecting a wait, but was pleasantly surprised when they found us a table straightaway. Soon to follow were trolleys after trolleys of great dim sum, both steamed and fried. The atmosphere was pleasant, not too noisy. One could chat without having to shout. Tables were spaced appropriately, not cramped. Service, whilst not overly friendly was prompt and prices were reasonable. The only downside was a bit of a struggle looking for parking initially. Still, would recommend highly.

Being Asian I sure love yum cha and upon recommendation from a colleague, we decided to check out Shangrila on a Saturday afternoon. We had booked prior to coming in and managed to get a table for two after a few minutes, bypassing a huge line up of people waiting for a spot as well. It has the same atmosphere as Landmark: huge area, crowded and noisy, paper table sheets and plenty of waiters/waitresses. If you are expecting a five star luxury restaurant service and ambiance, don't go there. Shangrila offers unpretentious yum cha at its best and what you see, is what you get.

The food was really good, served nice and hot and they have plenty of dishes that I have not seen elsewhere before. The xiao long bao (Shanghai soup dumplings) was apparently the star dish, but we thought it was alright - not a standout. We preferred other dishes such as the vegetable and pork steamed dumplings, loh mai kai (steamed glutinous rice with pork inside) and the taro cake. Food trolleys came around pretty quickly and the waiting staff were friendly and fast. We were there for about an hour and spent around $20 per person. Will definitely be back for more. If you are going with a big group (more than 4) in the weekend, I would suggest making a booking if possible.
