“Great location, kid friendly staff”

First off, since I have gold level stays with Marriott, my expectations were higher than for a non-Marriott brand. When we (my wife and 8 & 11 year olds) checked in, they told us we'd been upgraded to a larger room with a view of the bridge - very nice. After dumping our bags, we headed to the executive lounge. They have a very kid friendly staff and they made us all feel very much at home. Alcohol, including champagne is free in the executive lounges in Australia which is very different from the concierge lounges in the USA. Breakfasts in the executive lounge saved us a small fortune, as did the desserts and drinks in the evening. They also served heavy hors d'oeuvres which we didn't try but looked good. We had a very hit or miss record dining out in Australia (mostly miss) so we tried the hotel restaurant called "M". It was surprisingly very good and they even had a kids menu. Cost wise,it was expensive, but no more expensive than every other place we had tried. It was the first restaurant where everyone finished their dishes! All in all, a great hotel, in a great location with very friendly staff. If you don't have access to the executive lounge, you will still get very friendly service, but not so many perks!

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the bridge.

We had a double room on floor 12 with city views was a bit disappointed because river views would have been nicer. Room was fine beds comfy and the pillows were superb. Unfortunately we were awoken at 4am by revellers outside our room yelling. Parking is expensive.

I was very lucky and i got taken away by surprise by my Husband for my birthday but having a little one at home he decided that maybe just a night away in the city with a lovely diner out would be the way to go. He did all the booking himself and i believe he had no problems in doing this and found it all very and easy to do and the staff helpful in doing so. He picked the Marriott Hotel due to it's location being located along the river and making for a lovely short walk to the Eagle St dining location he had booked. The parking was a so easy with having them do that for you (small cost, but well worth it), the staff were very helpful with any questions we had and they were able to give us a river view room which was requested at the time of booking. We did not get to use the facilities that the hotel has to offer due to a short stay of one night but we did have the full buffet breakfast which was the best breakfast we had both had at a hotel with so much selection and the perfect spot to sit and enjoy the morning. Although it was just for one night the early check in and late check out made it feel as though the stay was more like a weekend away and being so handy to the city and river it allowed for a lovely walk to dinner and an after breakfast walk before having to go back and getting ready to head off. Being in such a prime location and having everything very hand with helpful staff i would be sure to recommend a stay at this beautiful hotel.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a river view room as it just adds to your room and the experience.

Great location on the river, short walking distance to bars, cafes and restaurants. The room was really great, the bed was super comfy!

We stayed here for a weekend and absolutely loved it. The service was impeccable. Though we arrived early they managed to speed up the rooms and let us check in a little early. We were up with my 3 month old son and my in-laws joined us as we were going to the football and they were babysitting. The hotel organized adjoining rooms for us which made the babysitting process a lot easier. When we called for some ice to have some pre dinner drinks the hotel dropped ice at our room within 5 minutes.

A cot was provided at no charge, and on departure to the airport the hotel had limousine service available at the front for $50 to the airport which we were more than happy with as we were traveling with a baby with no car seat.

The rooms were nice and their beds are perfect. The tv's are a good size flat screen and our King room had more than enough room to fit the cot as well as have 4 adults in for a pre game drink and nibbles. It is a walk along the river to town but very easy to get to restaurants and shops.

I would stay here again whether it was work or pleasure travel.

My last review was 3 years ago, since then I've stayed at the Marriott probably 40 times. They have just refurbished the lobby, all good. And I've tried other Hotels via online deals, none of then stack up to the COMPLETE package the Marriott offers.

I'm disappointed in my stay at the Marriott. It all started when I tried to confirm with reservations what ID they required for a travel agent to obtain a agent rate. The lady on the phone just kept saying, ID, ID, ID. I kept asking if they needed a IATA or if my business card was enough but she wouldn't specify and just kept saying ID, ID and I ended up hanging up in frustration.

Check in was looonnng! I haven't even waited that long in Vegas hotels, it took forever and after a 12 hour drive you just want to be able to check in, freshen up and relax.

The rooms are lovely, we had a great view of the river but were only given 2 towels, everywhere I have stayed always give 3 - 4 towels.
The toiletries are nice too, smell lovely although our bathroom smelt like cigarette smoke which was off putting.

Valet parking is $45 lucky I had a deal that included it! Ouch!
Upon checking out we notified reception we would like to collect our car, she called down and then we headed down in the lift.
We waited over 10 minutes, still no car. A attendant came over we tell them we are waiting for the car they disappear never to be seen again. Another 5 minutes someone else comes over we tell them we are waiting for the car again the disappear. A third attendant comes over we tell them again we want our car he goes and ends up being the one to bring it up.

I have never stayed at a Marriott before and wanted to only to see what the service is like as I am considering staying at a Marriott in New York however won't be looking to do that. The service you receive is no different to that of a 3* hotel.

Dear Hay_Renay – Please accept my sincere apologies for the lapses in service standards you encountered. It’s very disappointing for us to know that we have let you down. However, I wish to assure you that your experience is not in keeping with the high level of service we strive to deliver and I have reviewed all of the points you raised with the Hotel team. Of course, first impressions are so important and I am very sorry you had such difficulty in establishing our Travel Agent ID requirement, which would preferably be a company ID card with photo, or a business card and other corresponding photographic ID, eg driver’s licence.

I appreciate you taking the time to provide your feedback and I do hope you may reconsider and choose to stay with Marriott again to allow us the opportunity to regain your confidence.
