Very pleased with my stay in this central city hotel located only 2 short blocks off the Queen Street Mall. It's fair to say that the Marque is an older hotel that has been modernised along the way, and does show a few signs of minor wear and tear, but nothing too offensive. My room was well fitted out, furnishings were in good condition, and I had a great view across the river to Southbank from nice big windows - really pretty at night. Small, but quite newly renovated bathroom with a good shower. I had no problem with any lift noise mentioned in other reviews, in fact had a really good sleep in a very comfy bed. Bonus of 3 hours free wi-fi included in the room rate. This hotel was well priced for its location and I'll definitely stay there again.

I was nervous when booking this hotel, I had read some concerns of others relating to noise, lack of service etc.
I had no reason to worry, as long as you remember this is a 3 star older property (once was Chifley on George) and costs around $100-120 AUD a nite.
Lobby is small but functional, rooms are comfortable, and mine (703) had a double and single bed, room have mini bars, irons, hair dryers, etc, and bathroom is satisfactory, if not a little pokey, and the French Connection toiletries are a nice touch, not sure what previous reviewers had wrong with these, unless they are new?
The pool is small, and get there early if you want the sun, by early afternoon your in the shade of the buildings around you. Gym has 3 pieces of equipment, but ok for a quick workout.
Hotel is right opposite the casino and 3-4 minutes walk to the top of Queen St mall.
They do give you 3 hours free internet a day, which is nice compared to most hotels that do not.
For the price and location, not a bad choice.

We urgently needed a room for 2 nights in Brisbane and have found a good deal on ebookers for 2 nights. Looking at Tripadvisor reviews, however, we were a bit concerned, as ratings were extremely low. Most of peopel have been complainign about the rooms next ot teh lifts and the service though, so we decided to tkae a risk. AND WHAT A GOOD CHOICE! Not only it was a great value for money (we have paid about 55 GBP per night for the room) it was an outstanding hotel.
We did nto get a room by the elevator and our room was quiet, spotless, simply gigantic, with amazing view. the bathroom was all new and nicely decorated. The staff was extremely helpful, and got out of their way to help us with contacting the airlines as we have lost a wallet in the plane. Would certainly get back and hoep others will give it a try too!

We went there for a late christmas celebration, dinner, bed and breakfast. Dinner was nice in the restaurant, we were the only ones there. Then the manager apparently told the bartender to cut our drinks as we were making too much noise?? Ridiculous. 3 couples over 40, having a good time and the restaurant was EMPTY except for us. The rooms have no pictures on the walls, chipped old furniture and poor reception on the TV. Small bathrooms. Breakfast is $24 oer head for the buffet...what a joke. One person attending the dining room and one cook. The coffee was empty, half of the hot food was empty, the manager eventually shoed his face and helped in the dining room. Just disgusting service.

After navigating the terribly designed car park with unnecessary vending machines scattered throughout (and charging $20/day for the thrill), the untidily dressed staff "welcomed" us to their establishment with a friendly "..Yes?". The service received was terrible! A simple 'swipe' of the credit card is usually to have it on file.. Not at the Marque, they withdrew $1 from my account.. Once we'd dropped our luggage at the room, we needed to return to our vehicle to place a parking permit on the dashboard.. You'd think the elevators would indicate what level the car park was on?! We had to stop at each level, poke our head outside the lifts, and then traverse to the next level in order to find the park! To save further embarrassment to other travelers reading this review, the car park is on level 1-2!

The purpose of our trip was for celebratory drinks in the City, and thus we didn't spend a heap of time in the hotel. In saying that, the room was clean and tidy, and the bedding was great. The only complaint regarding the rooms was the provided soaps and shampoos etc.. I'm not so keen on the 'dish-washing liquid' fragrance.. (no seriously, it smells like dish-washing liquid!)..

As described, the Marque is in an excellent location, central to everything major within Brisbane. Great for over-nights, but the small things need to be addressed. As a result of the high turnover of patrons, general wear-and-tear (such as the door locks) is an issue. It took quite a bit to get into our room! I wouldn't have spent more than $99/night (which was a once off special) for this room. It is evident that more money needs to be spent on this hotel.. For instance, the reception staff are still having to use the old 'box' monitors for their computers. Get with the program, Marque, it's not a good look for your "guests"! Apparently this has been recently renovated?

3rd trip to Brisbane, so was well versed with hotels there but this being peak of the holiday season (as was told), no rooms were available in the plentiful of hotels i knew.. Search on trip advisor got me to know of Marque Hotel.. its name may be i believe caught my eye.. i found it to be pretty impressive.. and the pics looks decently good as well.. was somewhat within my price range as well..so booked it..

So finally reached.. looked impressive from the outside.. swift checkin.. got to know of a Business Benefits package - 24$ and u get complimentary bfast, complimentary internet, daily newspaper and either a drink at the bar or a laundered shirt.. way too awesome i would say considering the internet prices in aussie hotels.

entered the room.. n boooy.. the room size is woooow.. its decently big for a downtown hotel i would say.. so was happy.. mattresses looked a little out of place but wasnt that bad.. toileteries i would say need a sea change.. they are too bad.. so remember to carry your own soaps and shampoos while u stay at Marque.. bath is otherwise decently sized.. towels too were a bit harsh for the body..so Dear Hotel Management, if you are reading this.. i would suggest changing all that..

Hotel has an in house pool, gymansium as well.. location wise its the perfect bet.. right in the heart of Brisbane CBD.. its within walking distance to almost all the touristy spots..

All in all .. a decent deal.. and ensure u book well in advance else its prices do rocket up to the levels of a 5 star property..

I stayed at this hotel before when it was under different management. The main difference now is the branding as Marque Hotel which is more modern and spiffy.

Appreciated the little extras which were available in the room like asprin. Shower is a little small but it did have a great full power shower which was refreshing from having to use a water saving one so many times! Looked out at office buildings. I liked that this hotel was a few streets away from the main Queen Street mall so the street outside was quiet at night as it is not on the route to night clubs, etc.

Hotel restaurant is very nice.
