“Unexpected stay in Brisbane”
Reviewed 18 July 2013

Owing to the cancellation of our flight back to New Zealand we were left in the position of finding our own accomodation. Being an Accor Advantage member I looked up hotels to stay and within 5 minutes on my Ipad we were booked at The Ibis, and also took along another two couples with us. Our room was very comfortable, and we found the staff very obliging and helpful. Our stay included a full breakfast which was also good. I can recommend this accomodation as it is also only a couple of blocks from Queen Street Mall. about 5 - 10 Mins walk.

My reservation was for 4 nights and came with buffet breakfast included which was great, nice selection and renewed regularly which is unusual in Australia. The room was pretty basic and I was placed right next to the elevator shaft which required use of ear plugs during the night in order to sleep. Painting of rooms was pretty poor, a yucky yellow colour which wasn't nice and a tiny window which didnt open. Television was ok, most digital freeview channels and 4 cable channels. Internet was advertised on Orbitz as free but alas not in rooms which is pretty pathetic in 2013! I suggest buying a dongle from Telstra or Optus for $20 which usually includes 5gb of 3G or 4G data. One a couple of days only 1 elevator was working out of 3 which was pretty poor but usually two were working. Overall this is an ok hotel if you get it under $100 per night, any more and it would be a rip.

Room Tip: Higher the better and try get a room away from the elevator shaft

Stayed one night at Ibis Brisbane in May.

The Hotel is about 8 minutes’ walk from the Roma Street Station. Brisbane’s city centre is not big so all sights in the city, including the City Botanic Gardens, can easily be reached from the Hotel on foot. There is a foot bridge, the Kurilpa Bridge, on the next street linking the south bank with the city centre. So it is only a short walk for the Hotel guests to reach the Gallery of the Modern Art, the State Library of Queensland and the Museum of Brisbane.

The staff checking me in was very friendly. The Hotel appeared to be quite popular so the front desk staff members were always busy. The room was of the usual Ibis standard, modern, big enough and clean. I stayed at the Hotel for one night only and I found no problem with the room.

The buffet breakfast was okay, with all the usual breakfast stuff available. There is a food court in the office building on the other side of the street and there are plenty of convenience stores, fast food outlets around. Given the fact that the Hotel is close to the Queen Street Mall, Hotel guests would have no problem in finding places to eat and drink.
