What's not to like, seriously folks? Unless you are a five star perfectionist this place has large, clean, comfortable, well appointed apartments overlooking the magnificent Botanic Gardens and River. So close to all the hubbub of theCBD but a real oasis of calm. Love it!

Good location, huge suites with excellent facilities, bedroom disproportionately small, decor drab and needing a makeover. Service good and friendly. Late night porter said I could have late checkout at 1pm free of charge but then was charged $40 for the privilege by the receptionist when I checked out at 1pm the next day.

My Kiwi friend and I had a six week holiday exploring Queensland and New South Wales. We stayed in a total of 12 hotels and were lucky enough not to have any poor experiences. However, some places stood out and this hotel was probably the best of a very good bunch!!
The 2 bedroom apartment we stayed in was roomy, bright and well equipped and had stunning views in two directions. The beds were topped with mattress toppers which felt like old fashioned feather beds - the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in!
The location of the hotel was ideal - it was lovely to be so near the Botanic Gardens and river whilst at the same time being so near excellent shops. And the staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.
To sum up - pricey but worth every penny - we loved it!

Our family had a great experience at the Quay West, no doubt helped by being upgraded to a penthouse. The suite was enormous and had spectacular views all around. We had breakfast at the hotel, and although the buffet is limited the cooked meals were excellent. Would definitely stay here if visiting Brisbane again.

We stayed here for the night of the 'River Fire' festival. Unfortunately just after check in we were stuck in the lift for over an hour. The staff were wonderful. They came to the floor we were stuck on and relayed information to us for the entire time we were in the lift. After debriefing (obviously for an incident report) the hotels on site manager came to our room to personally thank us for our patience and to talk of our experience. They also offered us discounted rates etc. If this had not happened I would still rate the apartment as high. The room was wonderful and offered a fantastic view of the botanical gardens and fireworks on the night. Everything was clean, functional and very spacious. Close to everything we were wanting. Absolutely loved it. Would stay again anytime........but wont be using lift number 3.

Stayed a second time and would recommend due to great location, proximity to shops and restaurants, botanic gardens and river. It is great to see accommodation constantly improving and evolving and the wonderful maintenance staff make it happen smoothly.

Upgraded entrance area is intimate but stylish with fabulous colours and comfortable seating. I think more could be done with the front of the building along from reception in the other direction though, as it seems a no mans land and is very boring. I think the business centre is supposed to be there but it consisted of one computer that is coin operated and is it functioning? Basically no privacy to conduct business so rate Quay West poor on their lack of business facilities. They need to take a look at the Sheraton in Noosa for some ideas.

Our room provided everything we needed though.

Some rooms are being refurbished so look forward to seeing the results next time we visit. We found the maintenance guy Chris so helpful and very polite. Hard to find good staff like that these days. Perhaps someone should give him a promotion as he goes above and beyond. We asked him a few questions and he offered great directions and advice pointing us in the right direction. The upkeep of our room was exceptional and everything worked and we particularly liked the fantastic views over the Botanic Gardens and river. Every time we saw Chris he smiled and asked how our stay was going and he seemed to be very busy and efficient buzzing about the building. He was all about the building and we saw him going about his business several times. Didn't notice any other maintenance staff though.

No other staff members caught our eye though but the restaurant staff are attentive.

The refurbishment of the restaurant was a pleasant surprise and an improvement since out last stay. The decor and the choice of the feature color walls in the dining room looked great.

Bathrooms in rooms and lobby are getting a little dated but they are still functional. I would like to see better water pressure and shower heads with more settings. I missed a shower head with flexi hose and would be great if some rooms had them.

Pool area looks fabulous. I found the pool very slippery though. Pool needs grab rails as found it dangerous getting in and out of pool. Pool is 1.1metre max depth and wished it was deeper so could swim properly but look of pool is great. Pool is ok for children but poor depth for adults. The spa is also great and was an ideal temperature - again a grab rail would be helpful. Good gym and well maintained.

Restaurant is small and intimate and next to entrance. Coffee in restaurant was not great and could do with a better blend but I do like their eggs benedict a lot and its superb with spinach.

Wifi not available which is frustrating when you are travelling with your ipad. Business centre doesn't exist and I found this unacceptable.

Overall great location opposite botanical gardens and near Eagle Pier to catch ferry.
