“Don't stay in 10th floor city view rooms if you want to sleep in.”
Reviewed 9 July 2013

Royal on the Park is a very nice hotel, in a great location. Easy walk to Queen Street Mall for shopping and just across the road from the river side Botanical Gardens.
My most recent stay (8th visit) was for 2 nights, the room on 10th floor was pleasant, clean and had a view of the pool.
The big problem with room 1035 was that it was directly under the gymnasium on the 11th floor so at 7am Sunday morning the vibrations and banging noises coming through the floor from the weight machines were loud enough to wake you up. My other family members staying in the room directly below me in 935 could also hear them. Not conducive to a sleep in...
Staff happily moved me to another floor for my second night but acted like I was the first person to mention the noise from the gym weight machines. A friend who stayed here 4 years ago told me she had the same experience. So it is not a new problem. Maybe the staff should spend the night in the room when the gym is being used to hear it for themselves.

Room Tip: Do not stay in rooms on 10th floor 1033-35 they are under the gymnasium and can be noisy because of...

Dear AussieX5
Thank you for taking the time to share your review. Please accept my apologies for the noise coming from the gym. Unfortunately on the Sunday morning the gym was in high demand from enthusiastic guests and the noise carried more than usual. Thank for passing on your feedback to the reception team during your stay and I'm glad that another more suitable room was found.

Kind Regards
Dale John

My husband and I arrived here 20th June very early in the morning after our flight we knew we couldn't check in until mid morning but needed to rest. The staff did everything to help we even had a room early nothing was too much trouble. The 3 days we were there we received excellent service come all the staff we came in contact with. We would love to return on our next visit to Oz.

Room Tip: Choose a room with view of the park.

We had a lovely twin room very clean and comfortable. Ate at the Walnut restaurant. Excellent food and very accommodating for gluten free diners. Great staff. The location is great and easy to get to off the freeway. Its lovely to go across the road to the park.

We stayed for 3 nights in the inappropriately named Luxury Junior Spa Suite, as there was absolutely nothing luxurious about it. The room had a really awful smell which we had to report twice before someone came to look at it but they couldn't sort it out, never apologised nor did they offer us a different room. The bathroom was so uncomfortably small you could barely move in it and the fixtures and fittings were so old and dated despite the hotel's website boasting of a refurbishment in 2012. The lounge furniture was frumpy and dotted with various stains and the tv reception was poor. Housekeeping standards (i.e. cleanliness and hygiene) were appalling; the carpet hadn't been vacuumed, the spare toilet roll was on the floor next to the bin and the toilet in the lobby was a disgrace. Breakfasts were very average as were the staff. The rate for the first two nights was $450 pn, and $650 for the third night, excl. breakfast, which was exorbitant considering the standard of the room. Needless to say, we will never stay there again but rather stick to the other great hotels in Brisbane where we've previously stayed, viz. the Emporium, the Treasury and the Hilton.

Dear Habana195

Thank you for taking the time to share your opinion with us.

I was pleased to see that you found our location good, however there certainly are aspects of your stay that did not meet your expectations – and I do offer a sincere apology for this.

I was disappointed to read that you found our rooms dated, as mentioned in our website the hotel was refurbished in 2012, however I do understand that the ‘traditional elegance’ style of décor may not be to everyone’s particular taste.

With regards to your room cleanliness, I will be sure to share your findings with our Executive Housekeeper.

If you do wish to discuss any other aspects of your stay, please do not hesitate to contact myself directly on 07 3221 3411.

Thank you once again.

we booked an interconnecting room and loved it, handy for travelling with extended family. rooms are narrow but comfy, the separate "lounge" area is cute. nice location opposite the park. friendly staff, unpretentious.

Room Tip: the interconnecting rooms if you are travelling in a group are a great option!
