“Clean, modern and ideally located”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 December 2013

Fantastic location, friendly staff and good sized, clean and modern rooms. We had three adults in one room with two double beds and had plenty of space. It is ideally located for the shops, River Cat and the main highway. Would recommend.

This is an average business hotel that is in a good location in Brisbane. easy walking distance of the city and near the park and river.
Rooms are fine, mine overlooking the city rather than the park.
Ther are other hotels I prefer for the same price

Room Tip: Get a room overlooking the park

Brilliantly located, especially if you like to walk and take in what a city has to offer. The hotel retains some old world charm whilst being maintained to a high standard.
Breakfast is good quality with plenty to choose from and the service all round is excellent.
Great restaurant just up the road.

Room Tip: Ask for a view over the park. I was on the city side which was fine however I'm sure the park vi...

We stayed as a family of four over Saturday night to attend Christmas functions. Brilliant location, rooms very plush and beds almost too comfortable! Staff were so happy and service beyond expectations for such a busy time. Buffet breakfast was just lovely, up to the standards of other 6 star properties at half the price.

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 December 2013

Stayed a few days here in November'13. I choose the hotel on basis of Tripadvisor review.

The good points are its excellent location within walking distance to anywhere in the City centre; across the road from the Botanic Gardens and walking distance from the Gabba sports ground.

The Reception staff are pretty organised and friendly; They arranged an early check-in which was most welcome after an overnight flight; the staff in the restaurant are pretty good too and the breakfast spread is excellent whether you go for the continental or full cooked choice.

The room, I opted for a view of the park, is of acceptable quality; a bit dated here and there, especially the feel of the bathroom, although everything worked and was clean. The bed was comfortable.

The building itself is somewhat dated. The rooms facing the botanical gardens face East/South East and at about 6am in the morning one could hear the outside metalic window frame come alive from the impact of the hot sun on the metal . .it was a bit disconcerting but eventually the building settled. The windows do not open so total reliance on the A/C to circulate air and cool the room. The A/C work but is old and noisy; the sound insulation is pretty low is if your neighbours are loud then it will transit through.

Be warned, at least on my floor, the cleaning staff, start work early and can be heard in the corridor before 8am . . however, 8am is late in Brisbane as the sun is half way up the horizon (QLD does not operate DST)

Overall, the staff make the hotel welcoming and in some ways its quirknesses is characterful. At the right price it is a good place to stay in; if it is too pricey; check out the Point Brisbane Hotel which is a across the river: more modern and just as convienient with the regular ferry hopper service.

Room Tip: City view, while not as pretty as Park, is cheaper.

Dear Ben-Saud
I appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback following your stay to attend the recent Test Match. I was pleased to read that we were able to arrange an early check in after your long flight and our buffet breakfast was of high quality as usual. The building was erected in 1969 and since then management have maintained the traditional décor of the entire site to preserve the special place in history that Royal on the Park holds.

I apologise for the air conditioning unit being noisy in your room and the Maintenance team investigated but found no fault with the unit. I have not previously heard of the windows creaking when the morning sun hits the building but I will be vigilant in future regarding this matter. Our Housekeeping begins servicing rooms prior to 8am in order to fulfil the needs of each guest and I apologise if their noise level was excessive during your stay.
Kind Regards
Dale John

I have stayed here a couple of times now. The staff are efficient and the rooms and beds comfortable. Most of all it retains its character. The botanical gardens across the road are great for a morning run.
