“Good location, well maintained and affordable”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 January 2014

The hotel is in a good location, being next to the botanic gardens and in between the Southbank and the city. So great for relaxing and shopping, cafes etc. The hotel was, well, very much like it should be for a 4 star hotel and the price we paid was very affordable, we had no problems with anything. The kids enjoyed the pool at the back of the hotel although I found that area to be very dull and bland.

We decided to treat ourselves on Christmas Eve and spent the night here. We had a lovely big room overlooking the Botanical gardens with 2 queen beds which were super-comfy! The staff were all very friendly and the room was really well maintained and nicely decorated, but the big winner was the HUGE Buffet Breakfast we had available to us on Christmas Day! What an amazing feast and all served by smiling and helpful staff who I am sure would have much rather been at home with their own families...
Great location, within easy walking distance to Queen St Mall, the Casino and even Southbank..

Really impressed with customer service and lovely large room decorated with a lovely vintage decor. Pay-per-view movie deal meant unlimited movies for cheap and room service was delicious (if a little pricey). Free wi-fi was an awesome addition. Check out at 11am, which is a little later than most hotels definitely is the cherry on top!

The hotel is ideally situated opposite the botanical gardens and clean, nicely decorated rooms of good size with 2 comfortable queen beds. We had a pleasant view of the gardens.
As with all city hotels, mini bar prices are excessive - spring water was not complementary, but nice tea and coffee
Reception staff helpful - and had no issue with leaving luggage as we arrived before room being ready. - our bags were even taken up and placed in the room for our arrival.
Overall good value for the location and room size.

My family stayed here recently as one family member had to fly out very early the next day. So we thought a last night stay somewhere nice in the CBD would be the way to go. We have stayed many times over the years but we have not stayed for a while. We were very impressed with the new refurbishment of the rooms. The rooms are elegantly appointed and very agreeable . The rooms are clean and the beds comfortable. The airconditioner was quiet. There was tea and coffee facilities, ironing board, hairdryer and some cable TV available. Breakfast was amazing. With a good range of cereals , fresh fruit, yogurt, cooked breakfast , juice and great coffee. The fresh made miniature american style hash browns were great. It is only a short walk (about 2 - 3 blocks) from the Myer Centre an CBD. There was free unlimited WiFi which was good to see as this is pretty standard overseas, so its about time someone in Australia started doing it.

Room Tip: Both the city view rooms and park view rooms have a nice view although very different from each othe...

Great location if you need to be in city center. Hotel is in need of a refurb but is still charming. Staff were very helpful. Comfortable room, good wifi. Would stay here again because despite the age, has a comfortable feel.
