We booked the seven day special room rate which was $99.00 per night. We were delighted when we arrived . The Reception staff were pleasant and helpful and the room, on the 16th floor was modern, light and airey. Our daughter slept on a rollout bed in the lounge which was comfortable. Our bed was also comfortable and the bedroom a good size with plenty of wardrobe space. Other rooms we observed were also pleasant. Each apartment had a balconey and once the door was shut the room was quite quiet. The apartment was very central and less than 10 minutes from the CBD. The Transit Centre was just across the road and was very handy to every thing. There was a good selection of restaurants nearby.

..I have to agree with the scabbey review..booked on wotif as I needed a last minute place as looking for somewhere to live in Brisbane but taking longer than expected - do not be fooled by their website..apartments rather smelly/reception and hallways smelly and dated...was told that each apartment is individually owned and furnished by the owners after I said it didnt look anything like their webpage..got moved to a slightly better one by surly receptionist but very noisy as a few doors from Backpacker place...lots of drunks falling around the street (sadly mostly english)....more like a prison cell dark window blinds/bad decor/..if you dont plan to be in your apartment its bearable ..BUT stay with any of the Oaks group apartments all over Brisbane..they are luxurious and only about $10 more per night if you get a deal on wotif.....be careful with wotif as no refunds if you dont like it!!

First room was dark and had an overpowering smell of bleach. There was someone elses wet washing in the washer, the bathroom bin hadnt been emptied. The cups were dirty and the apartment was generally grubby.

I requested a change of room having read on trip advisor some rooms were better quality than others. Friendly french lady on reception apologised for everything and moved us up to the 13th floor to a larger fresher apartment. However, it had a damp smell to it, the washing machine got stuck on rinse and took 4 hours to complete. The carpet was stained and the shower curtain old and dirty.

I would never stay there again would not recommend it and certainly didnt see it as a 4* more like worn out 3*.

I will be complaining to the hotel.

Booked using Wotif. I chose this place as the location suited me as I was in Brisbane for work and it was the best priced apartment around.

I should have taken other travellers' advice and asked for a good quality room. I was on the 5th floor and it was an old apartment with rust around the doorways and dripping taps. I can't believe in this time of water crisis in Brisbane, hotels are not diligent enough to replace tap washers when needed. Really in need of refurbishment and updating of appliances in the kitchen as well. As it is right across the road from the bus terminal, I found it very noisy from about 4am.

Had coffee downstairs for breakfast and that was good.

Here's the insider's secret! Each apartmetn is totally different, maintained by its owner, so you can get very different experiences depending on which unit you get... some are VERY basic, some very luxurious.

The receptionist told me that if you ask for the prettiest/ nicest/ best unit they have, and tell them you're aware of this unevenness of quality, you may well get the best one they have.... Worth asking!

Hotel okay, good location for what we needed. One problem though with the room! Booked for 3 adults therefor we needed to use the sofa bed. After discovering the sofa bed was not made - we had to go down to reception and request linen? We were given 1 sheet and a quilt. No pillow.

Staff were friendly and facilities what I expected. We were just disappointed that one we had to request linen after booking for 3 adults before we arrived and then to be given only 1 sheet and a quilt was disappointing. I would of thought that the sofa bed could of been made up before we arrived? And a quilt is not nice to sleep with?

The Abbey is in a great location - just opposite one of the main stations (Roma St), which is on the airport line. The apartments are big and clean - great value for money. I'm surprised they are so incredibly cheap. Not luxurious obviously but much more than you expect for the price.
The only negative thing I have to say about our stay is that the girls at reception are incredibly sour, couldn't manage a smile on any of the occasions that we saw or spoke to them.
