I paid $335 a night for a 2 night stay - booked on a named basis, not via one of the antonymous sites as I quite often do........
The hotel is very convenient to the train station and it's nice to be able to jump on a train at the airport and then just walk to the lobby.
The comes the bad stuff. Breakfast is $49 - yikes! Internet $29 for 24 hours (buy a SIM from the V company and you get 4 megs of data you can use on a personal hotspot basis - huge saving!).
The straw that broke this particular camel's back was the stinginess of the free lobby wifi. Yo get kind of used to sitting in the lobby like a cheapskate to take advantage of free wifi, but at the Sofitel, it's limited to 50MB. I went down there to try to download my daily newspaper which I guess is about 250MB and didn't get too far.
Well done Sofitel on saving on giving me that 200MBs. You'll never get another room night from me.
Final note. For those of you who like a decent workout, the gym is poor. One chest press and one pull down machine + dumbbells. I know you can get a decent workout with dumbbells with a bit of creativity, but no further machines and no barbells = another reason to find a better hotel in Brisbane next time.
