“Good value”
Reviewed 18 October 2012

Good value, suited our needs perfectly with good carparking facilities, Close to restaurants and city centre. The room was excellent and had a great view of the city. Would stay again if we returned to Brisbane.

stayed at the sebel after booking a secret sale on lastminute.com.au - being only one night was willing to take the gamble of not knowing the hotel in advance of booking.. and rate was good..

the location can't be beat.. convient to train, shops and river.

room was clean and spacious, and staff professional and prompt. no complaints at all on service.

only thing is rooms are a bit dated, although fully functional and well maintained. i note that some room types have been renovated and would be nice if this could be carried forward for other rooms.

Dear lancesyd, thank you for reviewing our hotel. We are pleased to hear that your booking via Lastminute.com's Secret Deal met with your satisfaction and we hope that you will feel confident about booking our hotel by name in future, based on your experience. All of our rooms were refurbished when we last refreshed our decor, however if there were any specific aspects of the room you stayed in which you feel we should know about, I would encourage you to contact me directly to discuss - tom.bloomfield@accor.com.

Stayed here on business for 3 nights mid-week in late September 2012. Excellent central location and walking distance to everything. As mentioned by another recent review the construction site is long gone. Our rooms on the 24th floor were huge, modern, quiet and spacious. The balconys were large but bare and of course being in the central CBD the view is mostly of the office building next door - still, a deck chair or two would have been nice.
The gym is small but well equipped and on the same level as the small outdoor swimming pool.

We dined at the hotel restaurant for both dinner and lunch during our stay and both meals were excellent; good value, good service, good food, and a nice sidewalk location. Yet the breakfast buffet was one of the saddest and most limited efforts I have seen, a few slices of cold meats, a single common bowl of yogurt, tepid coffee and those kids-size boxes of cereal set the tone. So avoid - avoid - avoid - and order from the fixed menu, as the cooked breakfasts are excellent quality and much better value.

In room Internet access is via the same last century plug-and-cable technology that Australian hotels still insist on charging a premium for. Internet cafe around the corner in Charlotte Street if you need it and lots of free wi-fi coffee shops and the like nearby.

Location, service and rooms are excellent, I would be happy to return here. I have recently stayed at the Rendezvous Hotel - Sebel is at least an extra star.

Dear Nangfah, thank you for taking the time to let us know your thoughts. We note your favourable comments regarding location, suite layout and our hot breakfast menu. However, we also appreciate your observations about the continental buffet and will take this feedback into account as we look towards enhancements. Guest internet is an area we will shortly be investing in, adding a WiFi service to upgrade our current DSL (cabled) system, though our lobby, restaurant and conference areas do currently enjoy a WiFi option. We hope to see you again and receive updated feedback on these improvements.

We've stayed in many hotels in and around Brisbane over the years, but now we only choose to stay at the Sebel Suites as it has it all.

From easy friendly check in to the rooms - all lovely immaculate clean modern rooms, fully kitted out kitchen if you need to use it, lounge suites, tv and desk in the lounge and comfortable beds fitted with crisp white linen, pillow choices and another tv (tv's are on the small side but that may be as we're used to our own larger than life sets!) The lounge converts into a sofa if you need to use it, and it's not the most comfortable lounge to sit and watch a movie, but who usually stays in the room longer than the time it takes to watch a movie anyway? Bathroom always clean and immaculate, though a little on the small side.

Views of Brisbane are lovely, no matter which room we've been in there's always a great view outdoors, though if it's a cosy romantic holiday we don't venture out much!

Room service is good, a different menu than most hotels offer, chef has some creative tantalising food pairings - have to be honest and say that when we order room service, it's a simple meal like a steak sandwich and wedges, cheese plate or dessert, and it's been delicious. We don't usually partake in meals at their restaurant, have had breakfast there, utterly delicious and a large serving, but we usually venture out into Brisbane for somewhere with a little more character - the room looks like a typical hotel dining venue, nothing too splashy or characteristic to distinguish it by. You've got to try their coffee though, very very seriously good coffee.

We've stayed at other Sebel Hotels in the city but were disappointed - in comparison the Sebel Suites the Sebel Citigate Brisbane was pokey, not modern and not vintage, characterless, just another unexceptional hotel room. Lovely rooms in other hotels at Kangaroo Point but it's too far to walk to anything, and cab fares, although not expensive, was just another expense we preferred not to have if we could.

And that's why our preferred place of rest is the Sebel Suites Brisbane.

Parking is available, a bonus in a big city, and once we park our vehicle we don't use it again over the weekend. The great thing about the Sebel Suites is its location, so central to everything, the casino, restaurants, cinemas, its so handy and you can walk everywhere!

Room Tip: We like corner suites as you don't have so many banging doors and people walking out of lifts an...

I recently stayed at this hotel for 2 nights to attend a family gathering and do a number of "chores". It was a great place to be situated in the city as I could get to the Mall, Southbank and other shops very easily. The gathering was at the hotel also and we were well looked after. I have read older reviews and was concerned about the construction site mentioned but this seems to have been completed and there is no sign of it now. The room was clean, neat and tidy with everything I required. I was on the 29th floor and found the hotel to be very quiet given the amount of activity in the city streets outside. The only downside I experienced was the service in the restaurant but no great problem.

Room Tip: Rooms on the north west corner (xx03) have views to South Bank and into the Mall.
