“Sebel Hotel Brisbane”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 January 2013

The hotel is in a good location with an easy walk to the Mall. I thought I was booking a suite as per the name, however, I received a "hotel room," which was small, with a small bathroom. Upon arriving into the garage with my car, the boomgates would not open, when staff allowed access - twice. Thats a long way to reverse backwards.
Dont get me wrong, staff were nice, room was clean and adequate. Though I dont think Ill be back to this suite property, when its only a hotel.

Dear Raangi,

Thanks for your comments. Over 75% of our room inventory is apartment-style suites, though we do have a small percentage which either form the second bedroom of a two-bedroom suite or can be sold separately as standard studio rooms - the equivalent size of the rooms in most hotels. Naturally, the studios are a cheaper price. Next time you are in Brisbane, please contact me in advance and if we have availability I would be more than happy to upgrade you, so you can experience our suites for yourself.

Kind regards

The experience me & my family had here was horrible. Over the christmas period expecting a 'holiday' We felt like a we were a hassle and the staff had better things to do than serve us. The room had a horrible smell, no table out on the balcony so we all had to sit inside.

The main thing was the staff, rude and charged me for a prepaid booking untill i questioned the man and said sorry but i've already paid. Also very few day beds so we had to sit on the ground out near the pool.

Outdated bathrooms and tiny 'kitchen'.# Not value for money #would never stay here again #not family friendly

Dear Sammi K

Thank you for your review, though we are obviously disappointed that you didn't find the hotel suitable for your family vacation. Whilst we are not a resort-style hotel, which it appears you may possibly have been intending to book, we are nonetheless very popular with families looking for a Brisbane city escape in a central location with spacious accommodation suites.

I apologise if there were any aspects of our facilities which did not meet your expectations, though I am surprised to hear that our Reception team were not helpful and courteous to you, as this is not the usual feedback we receive about them. Unfortunately, I cannot comment on the matter of the prepayment until I have more information and can identify your reservation, however I would be more than happy to investigate this if you would be so kind as to make contact with me at the email address below.

Rest assured that we will deal professionally with and act on any genuine issues you would like to raise with us directly, as we believe it is important to acknowledge and deal with all feedback received. Thank you once again for letting us know about your experience.

Yours sincerely

Love staying here, first choice hotel whenever we're/I'm in Brisbane. Staff are always friendly and efficient. Location is first rate, very close to most key buildings in the CBD. Nearby restaurants are great. Will be brilliant when the construction across the road is finished, seems like its been going on forever. Good for business and families, two thumbs up.

Dear David W,

Thanks so much for the review and we're pleased to have you as a regular guest at The Sebel Suites Brisbane. I do note that the stay related to this review was from mid-2012, so you will be pleased to know that there is currently no construction taking place in our immediate part of the city. We hope to see you again before too long and once again, thank you for taking time to share your thoughts.

Warm regards

I just stayed at the Sebel with my sister over Christmas.
The location was great, super handy for checking out the sites of the city.
The staff were very helpful and friendly. Enjoyed the pool and lazing on the daybeds.
Many Thanks !

This was a room provided by Qantas when their service was cancelled. Judging from the average price of the room it would probably have been around $250 a night. The room I got was on the 26th floor, probably considered a large room as it had a kitchen and a lounge around with a separate bedroom. The room looks dated, and feels more like a serviced apartment than a hotel. But it was clean, the bed was perfectly fine and comfortable. The way to describe it would be that it was a functional room, spacious and clean. No complaints to make, but I guess if I had paid over $200 for a room, I would have expected something nicer (or at least a room that had a newer fitout) and would probably have stayed in a more standard hotel (rather than suites).

Location wise, it's pretty good in terms of being right next to the CBD mall and very central. Train access is however slightly further away, but the train network in Brisbane isn't great so there's little value in being close to a train station.

Dear kwcm,

Thank you for your review, having stayed at our hotel following the cancellation of your flight. Whilst our suites may resemble serviced apartments in some respects, our point of difference is that we also offer the full services of a AAA-rated 4.5 star hotel - such as valet parking, 24 hour room service, restaurant, drycleaning, minibar and daily service.

We appreciate that you may not have had time to use many of these services during your brief and unplanned stay, however we hope to see you again on a future occasion as a return guest, when you may have more time to explore. In the meantime, we hope you will consider staying at one of our many other fine Accor hotels and resorts during your travels.

Kind regards
