3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 August 2014 via mobile

Before going to this hotel i read the review from tripadvisor. &my expectation was so low after seeing the photos of the room. But out of my expectation, it turns out the hotel was good especially the view from the room and the location of the hotel.

This hotel has a great location and the facade/reception area is deceptively good. Staff are patient but have frustrating things to deal with. Upon checking in the receptionist had trouble with the credit card facilities resulting in two separate deposits being taken from my card. The hotel itself showed promise from the entrance but upon getting to my level I was confronted with cables coming out of the ceiling near the lifts. The room itself is older style, tiled and just desperately in need of renovation - which I suspect they are doing. The rail in the wardrobe was not securely attached and fell out spilling the hangers and a lot of noise on the tiled floor. I was really put off by the sign asking me to not put my luggage on the bed "for hygiene reasons". I wonder about the event that caused that sign to be created.

Room Tip: Beware: this hotel has stackable car parking that needs a concierge to raise or lower the platforms...

The best thing about this place is its location. We stayed three nights. The first night we had a balcony room and it seemed OK, but the room was so warm as to be uncomfortable. The heat had been set to 28 degrees. We tried to change the setting on the split system to cool the room to no avail. The front desk informed us that all the rooms were set to heat at this time of year. I asked if we could have a room where we had control of the temperature. The corner rooms with no balcony could be cooled, apparently. We moved to such a room only to discover that it ONLY cooled. The iron had a badly frayed cord and there were no plugs for the sinks. The bed was reasonably comfortable, but the furniture and curtains are old and stained. The room is set up to self cater, which we required; however, there was no table in the room at which to dine. We won't be coming here again.

Room Tip: Higher balcony rooms for views and less noise. Corner rooms have no balcony and are not private. Peo...

This hotel has been beautifully renovated since we stayed there about two years ago. Only five minutes walk to the city centre (a little steep on the way back). An excellent location for visiting medical specialists in Wickham Terrace (as we needed). The staff on all shifts were most helpful. Our room on the 9th floor was very spacious and we had a balcony with good view. The little kitchenette was a nice feature. Free wi-fi also available.Restaurant at the hotel has good menu. Will stay again.

Room Tip: Higher rooms have better views.

We were given a keen price and upon arriving quickly attended to. Car parking was provided with minimum fuss. The location was close to restaurants, shops, doctors, trains and buses. The room was clean and tidy and very quite. The air conditioning warm, and adjustable. Staff were efficient, friendly and helpfull. Car park used elevators but this was not a problem

If you have a vehicle worth anything make sure you check the parking situation at this hotel. I rang the hotel and enquired especially about parking and was ensured that it wasn't a problem even though our vehicle is a 4x4 with a long tray. Parking is charged at $9 a day and nothing was said about the car stacking arrangement that they have. Our vehicle didn't fit and only normal sedans could possibly fit the machine but then I'd be very careful as the stacking machine looks dodgy and there's signs on the wall where the hotel take no responsibility for the vehicle and also fines you if there is any damage. We were offered parking out the back somewhere where there was no security still for $9 a day. When we complained that we were ill informed we were still charged a day's rates even though we couldn't stay there. I'm sure there is better hotels in Brisbane where there is some customer service.
