Stayed recently at the Urban for work. This is a funky hotel that has bottles of perfume on reception for you to sample. The staff are up beat approachable and friendly, and even said good morning as I headed out for an early morning jog. There were conferences in-house during my stay, and yet the front of house man somehow knew that I was not a part of that group.

The Urban is located close to Roma St station, and only a 10minute walk to King Georges Square in Brisbane.

The room was spacious, had an interesting layout and was well furnished. I liked the nice touch of slippers and bathrobes (even though I didn't use them) and the mini bar was reasonably stocked - complete with a teddy bear if you have kids.

One issue for me was the car park. It is extremely poorly designed from a floor plan, and I would hate to try and navigate it with a large car. I had a Hyundi i20 (small compact car) and even though the poles are painted yellow so they stand out, it is very pokey and you could easily take out a mirror or side swipe your car trying to drive around it and park in the small spaces. I would drive very slowly and be extremely careful if you are trying to park here... so as to not damage your car.

Clean, central, staff very helpful. Not 5 star but for the price and service not bad value. Will recommend. Car parking at hotel or street parking easy. Walk to city and Suncorp Stadium. Restaurants close by, railway quiet and easy walking distance.

Third time we have stayed at this hotel that is close to Roma Street Station (a major train stop) and a 10 min walk from the centre of town, so a good location for foot travellers. The hotel is modern and upbeat and little quirky, perhaps aimed at a young in-crowd, and it works well, and the staff are really friendly and helpful. Typically the rooms are well furnished with everything you need and nothing you don't, but this time we were a little disappointed with the size and layout of the room and bathroom, both of which were poorly lit and felt dark and small because of it. The bar and restaurant on the ground floor is a nice spot for hanging out but we were also disappointed by the quality of the a la carte breakfast, and no breakfast option was cheap. The price of this hotel has gone up as well. We are probably being a bit harsh in this review because we have previously liked this hotel so much - it is still good, but the rooms need lightening and the breakfast needs sharpening up. We would still recommend this place for a mid budget traveller, but will probably try somewhere else in Brisbane next time. (Did we mention the staff are great? They truly are).

We stayed for one night before a flight out from Brisbane. Taxi driver did have a bit of a job finding the place, but eventually he got us there. Even turned off the meter, without being asked!
Nice lobby area. Check in was quick and easy. Room 417. Huge standard room, with a very large balcony, with views over two parks and looking towards The train station. I thought it may have been noisy with the trains so close, but with the balcony doors closed it was virtually soundproof. The room had the usual amenities, which were nice. Plenty of tea and coffee makings. Easy walk down and up hills, didn't realise that Brisbane was so hilly, to the international pub for a nice meal. Quite a few restaurants in that vicinity. Overall a good place to stay if u get a reasonable rate. We did order a taxi for the morning, bit they sort of offered limo transfer for $55.00. I think this could have been handled better.

Room Tip: See if you an get a corner room. I think the ones ending in 17 are the biggest on the floors

The hotel is located towards the end of a busy area of the city, so I enjoyed the peace and quietness. However, staff at reception was quite cold, though room service was well attended to. It was more expensive than other places I've stayed at and were cheaper. I would choose somewhere else before staying there again, simply because of the value for money.
