Having travelled extensively both internationally and domestically I have stayed at a number of establishments - ranging from 5 star to B&Bs and I have never experienced the service (or lack of) that we experienced here. Sad, dated decor, paper thin walls, smelly, rooms, horrible, rude manager who screams at staff and guests alike. Servicing the room consists of emptying the rubbish bins and changing the towels (seriously! In one week of stay our linen was not changed, room vacuumed nor bathroom cleaned once - you get better service in a backpackers). There are much nicer placed around this area - stay at one of them!

Whilst not the most stylish place to stay it is clean, functional and very handy to the trains and central Brisbane. It is not the most modern decor but it has everything you need. We had a room with a loft and the kids slept upstairs so it was like having a two bedroom apartment. The beds were clean and comfy. The staff were very fruiendly and accomodating. The under cover parking was good.

If you a really sensitive to noise this may not be the place for you. There was no street noise but if any of the other guests are noisy or out on their balcany you can hear them talking. There doesn't seem to be much soundproofing.

All in all it suited us. We parked the car and went everywhere on the train. Good value for money.

We booked two nights to go to a wedding in Brisbane. We expected a room with a view that was similar to the photo on the hotel website and, in the special requests, asked for 'a room with a nice view if possible'. The view from the balcony turned out to be of of the fencing of the room opposite about 2.5 metres away. We had been 'upgraded' from the room we had chosen (a suite) to a 'loft suite'. This was not really an upgrade as there were only 2 of us and we didn't have any need for the upper 'loft bedroom'.
The room, we were told, was over 25 years old and it looked it. They offered us a newer 'business room'. They are much smaller, but the fittings and furnishings are much newer and it was worth it. (The view was of a block of units, but at least they're about 15 metres away.) We understand now that the hotel is in a busy area and would be prepared for that.
At the time of booking we knew nothing other than what was on the website and to be fair the hotel is of about the same standard as the other two in the area (my brother stayed at the nearby Toowong Central).

The hotel is very handily placed for shops, restaurants, public transport etc. but overall it was a bit disappointing after having seen pictures on the website.

Room Tip: If you want space and don't mind tired looking décor and facilities, the suites are a good option. If you want up-to-date rooms and facilities and won't be spending a lot of time in the room, the smaller 'business' rooms are a much better option. These are at the back of the hotel and the noise from the busy street is practically non-existent

Great location - only 5 minutes walk to the train station, bus stops and river buses.
Rooms had everything you needed and were clean and comfortable.
Greg the manager was very helpful.
Pool area small and shaded.

There was nothing too bad about this place, but lots of little annoyances. They claimed to have foxtel (satellite tv), but it wasn't on in my room. I think the rooms are quite variable. Mine was very average, facing an internal courtyard. And it had a door to the neighbouring room, which is handy if you have kids in there, but is just a source of noise if you don't (I could hear my neighbours' conversations).
The room wasn't cleaned properly, and very annoyingly they didn't replace the tea bags and milk. So no cup of tea on my second night - very mean! Wireless broadband access could apparently be purchased at reception, but reception closes at 7pm. And don't bother with the breakfast.
So not good value. However, the location is good, close to train station and major roads (with parking), and good options for pubs, cafes and restaurants.
