Great hostel to start off in. Just moved to Brisbane and the YHA was a great starting point, great facilities and meet lots of cool people. The guys on the desk are helpful and knowledgeable. The bar is a great asset and they do some good deals which vary every day. Not many taxi drivers seem to know where it is, so make sure you do!

This hostel is the standard I judge all other hostels by. It´s by far my favorite and has yet to be surpassed. The facility's: kitchen, pool, tv room, games room etc are pretty much immaculate and well maintained, the activities offered like the walking tour and poker night are well run and great ways to meet other travelers, the staff are friendly and helpful (particularly Becky, Deryck and Jono (sorry if i´ve spelt any of those wrongly it´s been a while)) and the rooms are comfortable, secure and easy to get a decent nights sleep in, not the cheapest hostel in brisbane or even on that road but by far the best, don´t even consider the others, choose the YHA every time and you won´t regret it. And if they´re reading this, thank you guys for a great time, did you by any chance ever find those water bottles i lost?

I stayed at the City YHA after 7 weeks of travelling as the end of my Australian experience. It's a really nice place, the rooms are quite small but clean, bathrooms were clean as well. Loved the rooftop terrace! The kitchen seemed quite chaotic but big and well equipped! The YHA is very conveniently located to some nice bars and supermarket, to walk to the city centre takes you about 25mins. Very friendly staff and safe access to the rooms, as you need to unlock the door, which leads to the rooms, with your keycard.
I would definitely stay there again!!!!!

This is such a nice hotel if you are looking for something affordable and relaxing. In the centre of the city of Sydney, perfectly located to restaurants and entertainment. Close to public transport which is fabulous. Bathroom is not located in your room but a short walk around the corridor. Excellent facilities such as pool, restaurant, lounge, kitchen and roof top lookout!

This hostel is clean and tidy. They have staff manning the kitchen throughout the day/evening to ensure that it is kept clean.

At times the kitchen can be very busy but they have many sinks, cooking stoves, toasters, cutlery and utensils. There is a fabulous view across the city from the roof top terrace where you can eat your food or chill out in the pool.

I stayed at the hostel on two occasions within a few weeks. On my first visit I stayed in a female four share dorm and although there were lockers, they had no plugs inside and only two plug sockets for the whole dorm. The six share dorm, which I stayed in during my second visit, had a plug socket inside the locker which was really handy. The six share dorm had blankets on the bed whereas the four share dorm had doonas.

I really liked this hostel, but my only issue was that some of the reception staff are rude and unhelpful, and act as if the guests are an inconvenience. When I called to book I mentioned, near the end of the conversation, that I would like a female only dorm to which the response was "well I would hardly put you in a male room". Unfortunately, there was no humour in his voice when he said this comment so I felt as if I had asked for something stupid. However, I have since met a fellow traveller who advised that she was put in a mixed dorm and was told "if you wanted a female only room then you should have specified this when booking". Please note though that not all of the staff are rude, some are the opposite end of the spectrum and go out of their way to help you. So it really is pot luck on what type of service you get.

Would definitely stay here again. Stayed in a triple room with two friends and had a nice time. The hostel is quite a long walk from the CBD and you would need to get the train to go out in the Valley but it's a good location for the Southbank which has lots of cool stuff to do. The bathrooms were clean and spacious.
