Stayed here for over 2 weeks in Jan 2014.
The people who work there are really nice and friendly, always happy to help. Also the TV room was a good place to chill & there was a football table & small pool to keep you're self amused.
The people who stayed there was also friendly as laid back when I was there. Good location as you don't get the noise from the city and the shuttle bus was really handy!
However... The rooms have no air con just a couple of rubbish fans so at night we were often roasting. I stayed in a 6 dorm room with a small en-suite. It was good to have it in the room but it wasn't the cleanest, plus the few shared facilities they have were on the other side of the hostel, so if more than one person in the room needed the bathroom it was a pain.
The kitchen is dirty and small so often had to wait for a while until we could cook. reception also lock the fridges and kitchen at night so not good if you are planning to work long hours in Brisbane.
The place in general seemed a bit crowded, particularly at night so folks were fighting to get a good seat to watch TV or to sit and eat.
It was pretty cheap so you get what you pay for, good place to meet other travellers but if you like places clean and tidy... it's probably not for you.

I have to say, this is one of the best backpacker I have ever being to in Brisbane - Gold Coast.

Really good price for a 3 people room, The location is really convenient as well, really close to restaurants and supermarkets.

The people there are quite noisy however, can hear couples making love next room during the mid night. Also there are just too many people around and make the place feel overcrowd.

What I liked about the most is their very friendly staff. What I don't like about is the room structure? No air-cons and the noises goes in and out with no resistance.

Room Tip: Book it online for a better rate.

If you are not looking for a palace, then this place is fine. Excellent, and very friendly service, and a fifteen minute walk to Southbank. A giant old Queenslander with loads of character. Rooms were not exactly spotless, but there is a big kitchen, pool. TV room and a shuttle bus to/from the hotel. A bit of maintenance and a large clean, and this place would be even more amazing. But again, excellent service, I will stay again!

Room Tip: Probably best to go a single room, unless you are with friends.

The hostel isn't that close to the center but they have shuttles.
Kitchen is kinda big, lots of dining tables.
Very good tv room with lots of movies, football table, pool..
Good atmosphere, very nice staff, a lot of activties.
Only thing is people tend to stuck there so the rooms may be very messy.

ok, service was good, guys were friendly and helpful, no complaints...
but the room was horrible. we shared a room between three of us. no aircon, and it was really hot that time... but at least a fan, so at night you're sweating...
it felt... i don't know... dirty somehow? the sheets and everything...
the bed made noises even when you breathe, I'm not talking when we moved! so we didn't really sleep well. plus the place itself was quite noisy... we were lucky to be in a relatively quite place though...
you wanna stay with the family? not a good choice, it's quite loud there and the best is probably for young backpackers
ah, yeah, the location is pretty good, like 10-15 minute to the main street of west end with all the restaurants :)

The hostel is average in terms of rooms/cleanliness etc. But good enough for a hostel. The staff are very friendly and will help you out with anything you need. The hostel has a swimming pool but it looked really dirty. You would be better to go to the lagoon on Southbank where you can swim for free. You can walk to Southbank but the hostel also runs a free bus there and to the city. You have to pay for Wifi which is not cheap but I found that this is common in hostels in Australia. Good, quiet location with beautiful views of the city.
