“Great South Bank find..”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 November 2013 via mobile

Needing a 1 night stay to see an Art exhibition & some shopping we came across Capitol Apartments which seemed walking distance to the Queen St Mall and around the corner from the South Bank arts precinct. We were able to secure a executive 2 bdrm apartment for the price of a 1 bdrm in central Brisbane and the parking was only $10 compared to at least $20+ elsewhere.
Reception staff were friendly & helpful and the apartment was huge with views back towards the river. The kitchen was thoughtfully kitted out with everything you need for a dinner party for 6, 2 large bathrooms (1 ensuite) and tastefully decorated with contemporary furnishing - everything you need for your Brisbane stay.
We'd highly recommend these apartments & will use them as our base for future Brisbane visits...

I travel for work and stay in lots of hotels/apartments and this one is right at the top. Spacious room, huge shower, all new appliances and amenities. I don't mind city noise so I enjoyed being able to open up the windows and the balcony door. And the power points were in the right places and accessible to use a laptop (near the desk) and near the bed to recharge overnight The fitness room was quite good for a hotel, with a treadmill, two stationary bikes, a step master, a rowing machine, mats and a Swiss ball. Plus a lap pool! I had a short massage at the spa which was excellent; knowledgeable masseurs and reasonably priced. The cafe on the ground floor was convenient, good food albeit a limited menu. But West End and all its wonderful restaurants and cafes is a 10 minute walk. In the other direction, in less than 5 minutes you are at the Art Centre and South Bank. Perfect location and great value for money. It is now my favourite Brisbane hotel for business travel.

Room Tip: Go for the corner rooms at the end of the hall, the ones that end in '02", i.e. 602. 702, e...

Stayed here to attend a conference at the covention centre which is about a 5 min walk away. Apartment had everything you need and was very comfortable. If you keep all the windows closed and use the air-con you get very little noise from traffic and trains. Great restaurants about a 10 min walk away at West End. Most enjoyable, terrific location and would definitely stay there again. You can do a 5-10 min walk to Southbank station and catch the Airtrain to the airport.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony furthest away from train line

Live less than 1 hour away so criteria to stay in Brisbane overnight was clean affordable and close to QPAC and city. The Capitol Apartments fitted the bill. Very good value, a supermarket less than 5 minute walk away, full size fridge, microwave, hot plate, fully equipped kitchen, washer and dryer. Next to train line but quiet apartment and didn't hear single train. Went to show at Convention Centre, easy 5-10 minute walk back afterwards. Friendly enough staff. Modern and new. Would stay there again. We were on 3rd floor (307), looked out over road and railway line but not a bother as didn't book for the view .

This hotel was new and clean. Reception wasn't too friendly, not sure if its the Brisbane laid back attitude, but the room made up for that..
We requested an enclosed balcony as I have a 3 year old and it allowed him to go on the balcony without the worry of him climbing over...
The gym was ok, only one treadmill but no body was in there so it suited me fine.
The day spa was pretty good too, the girl in there was very friendly and accomodating.
The hairdresser up the road "David Murray" is 5star!! Ask for Shelly should you go.
The cafe downstairs offers room service but its limited.
I would definitely recommend

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from train tracks- noise

I stayed on the 6th floor in an executive apartment as it was the same price as a standard apartment.
When I first checked in to my room there was a terrible smell. It was a cross between sewage and natural gas.
The apartments are very new, so I was not sure what to put it down to. I mentioned it to the lady at reception, and she said she would pas it back to the property manager. She did mention there had been work done on the AC in the building that day.
When I returned in the evening, the smell was gone.

Bed was comfy, and a true queen, not 2 singles shoved together (from what I could tell anyway).
Big shower, deep tub which I wish I had the opportunity to use, and overall a lovely apartment.

My only gripe would be that the bed lamps were dusty.

I would stay again without hesitation.
