We stayed in June 2014 for the busiest weekend on Caxton Street and can say that this hotel is superb. The room is very comfortable, the furnishing and fittings have a generous touch of class and the bathroom is spacious, well-equipped.
The bed is luxurious, the leather cushioned bedhead makes it easy to sit up in bed watching TV or reading. There is a wide choice of pillows for fussy sleepers. Sheets are squeaky clean and crisp.
I love the lighting - moody and romantic - not too bright, lending a relaxed atmosphere to the room. The room is plushly carpetted - a very important comfort feature - nothing worse than landing your feet on a cold tiled floor.
Despite busy Caxton Street nightlife, the room fronting the street is absolutely quiet with double glazed sliding doors to the balcony. Bathroom products are a treat, very high end spa-like.
The colour scheme throughout the hotel is very modern and easy on the eye, unlike glary bright hotels. Warm creams, camel, brown, taupe, violet, bronze - clever! - sensations of a delicious mocha fudge. There is a good sense of privacy.
The staff are professional and polite, quick to get things moving.
Our car was valet parked and brought to the hotel quickly on request. The time it takes you to travel down the lift to the lobby, your car is waiting. The hotel restaurants are excellent, with a fine dining restaurant and a steakhouse.
There is plenty to do in the area - a sports stadium, restaurants, Palace Cinemas, clubs and bars.
In essence, I would stay here again, very gladly. Perfect for a five star boutique hotel in the centre of a happening place. Good attention to detail.

Dear Carol A,

Thank you for your very nice review. We are delighted that you enjoyed so many aspects of your stay.

So you are aware, the Gambaro Hotel Signature Sleeps Collection is made up of the pillows, duvet, luxury feather and down topper, luxurious bed, the 'squeaky clean and crisp' sheets and are all available for our guests to purchase. Since the hotel opening only 5 weeks ago they have proven popular.

Thank you again Carol A, we look forward to seeing you again.

Went to Brisbane to attend the Caxton Street Seafood and Wine festival. How fabulous to have a quality place to stay right in the heart of the action, I was travelling alone and felt safe and secure in the knowledge that my sanctuary was right there. The hotel is newly opened and very trendy, quality bathroom products, quality tea and coffee and a bed so comfortable I was grateful for the respectable time of 11am checkout! Staff respectful and friendly and considering the inconvenience of having the entire road closed in front of the hotel for the festival managed extremely well advising visitors of alternate entry with Valet Parking. My rooom was on the 3rd floor and as well as my own small balcony there is a great surprise at the end of the floor with a door leading out to a great deck overlooking Caxton Street which was a lovely place to sit and read in the afternoon and then enjoy drinks with friends new and old in the evening. With its proximity to Suncorp Stadium and the city this is definitely going to be my "go to" hotel in Brisbane. The only downside was that the restaurant was not open for breakfast the next day as it was a Public Holiday.

Room Tip: I really don't think it matters in this hotel. Because of the double glazed doors there is no is...

Dear MichelleLamont,

Thank you so much for your lovely review. It is rewarding to read that the team continued to maintain our high service standards during the logistical challenges of operating a luxury hotel in the centre of the Caxton St Seafood Festival. I know the staff enjoyed it as much as our guests.

For the benefit of Trip Advisor readers, the area you referred to on level 3 is the Sunset Lounge which is an outdoor area for our guests to unwind, relax and take in the beautiful views over Paddington, Suncorp Stadium and the surrounding suburbs.

We are delighted Gambaro Hotel has become your 'go to' hotel in Brisbane and we look forward to seeing you again sometime soon.

This is a brand new hotel right in the heart of Caxton St, surrounded by places to eat and a cinema and sports stadium both a couple minutes' walk away. The service was excellent and the rooms very trendy, although a little too much so for mine - everything is very dark and broody, which isn't really how I like a hotel room to be. It felt a bit claustrophobic and...I don't know - kind of depressing...in a very classy way! Only other problem was the A/C at night - it seemed to be a hugely oversized unit for a relatively small room, and being almost right above the bed was pretty loud. I ended up turning it off for the night. But if you are after a very new, very trendy boutique hotel, this is a good bet.

Dear njk17,

Thank you for your review of Gambaro Hotel.

I am sorry you felt the room was a little dark and appreciate your comments, although delighted you enjoyed the service of the Gambaro team.

For the benefit of Trip Advisor readers, njk17 has referred to the Barracks on Petrie Terrace that is only a couple of minutes walk away and provides guests with a wonderful cinema, further popular local restaurants and a selection services including a Coles. Suncorp Stadium is located a couple of minutes walk in the opposite direction.

Thank you once again for your comments and we would look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

I'm not a Brisbane fan, but I've found a boutique hotel I'm happy to escape to! Sleek, stylish and with immaculate service you will not be disappointed. I like that one of the restaurants is across the road so it doesn't feel like a hotel restaurant. The steak was amazing. I'd call it very tasteful luxury and if you're sick of the big generic hotels in the CBD, try this place. You won't be disappointed.

This is a brand new family owned hotel in the suburb of Brisbane. This is hotel for those who do not like to feel like in aquarium in solid glass towers. 4 stories hotel with balconies met our expectations although we needed to drive by taxi to city center 15 minutes. Rooms still smell with paint, everything You need may be found in medium sized rooms. Staff is very friendly ,but at the opening month not so many guests, so most of the staff has nothing to do...Breakfast/dinner restaurant deserves some descriptions. Breakfast is A la carte, but we did not wanted to eat all those offered varieties of omelets. So we asked for cheese ,sausage and croissants. Ladies were much puzzled by our choice. It took long for them to organize this, but finally they brought salmon and cheese platters, bot unfortunately they had no idea on croissants...
This restaurant for dinner pretends to become one of most fancy fish restaurants in town. Fish was average, but just mayonnaise was delivered instead of the sauce to the fish.. When senior waiter asked us -how we liked our meals, I tried to explain him , that chef should read culinary books enabling him to choose appropriate souse for each meal .But mayonnaise is everywhere served in Australia, maybe it is the part of their culture....

Room Tip: Do not choose rooms overlooking main street, yard is more quiet

First the good bits... Outstanding service from the front desk and the concierge, the most comfortable pillows ever and an amazing dinner at the steak house.
BUT.... my room at $300+ per night was dark, even with all the lights on and overlooked an alleyway and the side of the property next door. As a frequent "lady" traveller lighting (or the lack thereof) is the bane of my life. The bathroom, which had no bath, had no natural light and the mirror has a light directly above it - it was like someone was shining a torch on my face whilst I applied my makeup.
The bathroom literally flooded after I had a shower and I told the lovely lady at the front desk who said I wasn't the first person to mention this. In the bedroom, reading was difficult even with every light on in the room, its all dark wood panelling and dark furniture, carpets and fittings. The room rate did not include breakfast on either day and I self parked. This hotel is in a great location, and the staff are truly awesome but I wouldn't stay here again.

Dear Dawn P,

Thank you for your feedback relating to your experience. I am delighted that you enjoyed the service of the Gambaro team and bed pillows, which are apart of the Gambaro Hotel Signature Sleeps Collection. I am also very happy you had the opportunity to dine in our newest restaurant Black Hide Steak House, your feedback is consistent with our guests comments.

I am sorry to read that the room type you reserved was not to your liking and your comments regarding the shower water not being contained. I would agree that this is not the standard Gambaro Hotel strives for and can confirm that this has been addressed.

For the benefit of Trip Advisor readers, Brisbane's newest luxury Hotel provides rooms and suites with baths. In addition, the hotel provides a total of 49 balconies and private terraces available within the 68 room inventory. These balconies and private terraces look over some of Brisbane's most picturesque and iconic suburbs such as Paddington and Red Hill.

Dawn P, thank you once again for your valued feedback and our team would look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

This is a very new hotel located conveniently to Suncorp Stadium and the nightlife of Claxton Street.

The good points are that it is modern, contemporary in style and furnishing, the young staff are really friendly, the breakfast is good (if you don't mind not knowing what you're getting) and if it's the stadium or Claxton Street precinct that you're after, the location is terrific.

But there are a few things which mean I would not return.

For a start, the room - while comfortable enough and modern - was on the small side and really, really dark. The mistake for this room (which had an 'atrium' outlook) was furnishing it in brown, as it just made everything darker. Even with all the lights on, on a beautiful day of bright sunshine outside, it felt oppressive and dark. Further, they forgot lights in key places - eg. the wardrobe: it was literally impossible to see in there.

But the worst part was that it was almost impossible to sleep. For a start, the curtain across the window to block the light from the 'atrium' did not go the full length which meant there was a bright light through the window all night (just when you wanted it dark). Second, as there was no opening window, there was no fresh air. That meant putting the air-con on. But the air-con unit was so noisy, that it was impossible to sleep. Turn it off, and it's too stuffy within 30 minutes. All night without sleep.

The bathroom was compact, the shower good, but there was little shelf space to put a small toiletries bag - and that was just one person on a business trip. The amenities were nice quality.

The breakfast was provided in Gambaro's Restaurant next door, which meant walking outside the hotel door, walking through a bar into the restaurant. Once there, you were just given what was on the menu. There was no choice and no ability to see what the food looked like. Having said that, the birscher muesli was really nice - but it's unusual in a hotel to be told "this is what's for breakfast" when it costs an additional $22!

If you're going to an event at the stadium, and you literally just want somewhere within walking distance, to lay your head overnight and not much else from where you're staying, Gambaro Hotel would be fine. But if you're there on business, or have a slightly longer stay, despite it being sleek and new, there are other, better options around in Brisbane.

Dear 2093,

I would like to thank you for your valuable feedback as it assists with improving the services and procedures of Brisbane's newest luxury Hotel.

As you have correctly stated, the room type you have described is the Gambaro Hotel lead in room type, named a Petrie Queen Atrium. This room type does not have an external window although looks into the hotels internal atrium that provides natural sunlight by day and transforms into a beautiful feature by night that is also viewed from the guest corridors. I am sorry to read you did not sleep well and am disappointed we could not of rectified this during your visit. Our team has re-checked all curtains within the Petrie Queen Atrium Rooms and will make the necessary adjustments as required.

Gambaro Hotel has an additional 8 room types that includes 7 luxurious suites to choose from, all providing natural light and private terraces should this be more suitable on a future visit.

Breakfast options range from a Continental Breakfast ($22), Full Breakfast ($38) or guests may choose from an a la carte menu. Please accept my apologies if these options were not made available to you during your stay.

2093, thank you once again for your feedback and should I be able to assist further I would be delighted to speak with you in person.

Kind regards,

Murray Rowbotham
