My friend and I visited here for brunch after she saw it on the Great South East. It was pretty busy for a Tuesday morning, I would say the restaurant was about half full, which surprised me at 10:15am.
We both decided on the corn fritters, mine, the gluten free version and my friend with the addition of bacon. We did wait quite a while for our coffees, probably 10 minutes or more, however it was quite busy and we were busy chatting so weren't too bothered. The coffee, 'Campos' was delicious, I don't think I have ever had a bad cup of Campos coffee!
After reading the reviews I was expecting much smaller serves, however they seemed to be generous enough. I probably could have had 3 corn fritters, but I certainly didn't need 3! I don't understand why people want mammoth serves of things, the serving size was, for me, perfect. I also looked at quite a few dishes as they left the kitchen and for brunch they were definitely not too small.
I did however discover a hair in my fritter, these things happen, which I left on the side of the plate. I didn't say anything to the waitress when she took the plates away but she was back within about 2 minutes to apologise for the hair and inform us that the coffees would be taken off our bill. I was most impressed with this, firstly that she noticed what I had left on my plate and secondly that without any questions asked she immediately addressed the situation.
The restaurant is by no means small, it was a little loud but with the number of people in the restaurant this is to be expected. We certainly didn't have to shout at each other to hear ourselves.
We will definitely return and next time try something different on the menu.
