“Good hotel, Bad staff”
Reviewed 14 October 2011

We loved the hotel, very good for the kids, we stayed in two apartments and both were just perfect, even freshly painted, big bbq area and pool, well serviced and close to everywhere in Bris.
My small child locked the door to the bathroom, the handyman showed up in few minutes and unlocked it in seconds... how good is that!!!
Unfortunately the receptionist wasn't at the same level of professionalism, made us wait for everything, if you have a problem just go downstairs to the ground floor , DO NOT try to call them, any problem with the room see if you can catch the handyman directly , easy to find him wears a pink polo with a Hire a hubby logo, he is very helpful.( and exotic accent...)
Try to organize with few others a Maxycab from the airport to save on the fee, on the way back we rent for the day a car from Hertz next door and left it at the airport , we saved an other $50 on the cabbie. Ask for rooms away from the sunrise side,
Hotel accommodation AAA+ overall highly recommended!

Room Tip: ask High floors, away from sunrise.

Just sensational , we had a room on level 39, huge windows, lot of views, pity for the analog tv, but very spacious apartment, loved the prompt answer of the reception when we ask to fix a window's roller dropped in the bedroom... the maintenance officer was very polite and quick, a mention for Jarred at the reception, very effective, ask for a room over the 20 floor, however we spent some time with friends in room 1 on level 1, two levels apartment, very impressive. No room service but a lovely restaurant across the road called Pani a Vino.. highly raccomended.

Room Tip: ask for river view, or away from the lifts.

I stayed at Festival Towers last year and it was good but it has unfortunately gone downhill ... or I had one of the less than well maintained rooms. The couch was disgusting and I couldn't make myself sit on it and needs to be replaced.

Another work colleague's kitchen was much better stocked than mine (same room type) with kitchen crockery and mine definitely needed a re-stock. The bed was ok but the roll down blind was torn on the side and meant anyone in the apartment across could look in which was very disappointing.

Staff were friendly on reception, cleaning was done reasonably well (my hair on the bathroom floor for a few days wasn't so great) but for the dollars paid versus overall room quality I won't be staying there on the next trip.

the room was a kind of dusty, but clean overall, receptionist helpful however take times to answer on the phone, better to go down stairs if urgent, had a problem with lights and window's roller in the room, the maintenance contractor was prompt and very efficient no complaint there. Very central easy to reach spacious carpark.

The good: plenty of floors to choose from. 24 hour reception. Comfortable bed. Good view from the dining room which extended out from the hotel wall giving you a view of the street below. There's a great little cafe/breakfast bar on the corner next door called Spoon, where you can charge your meal back to the hotel.
The bad: there is no hotel carpark. There is a carpark underneath which guests can access for $20 per night but it has limited spots and must be pre-arranged. You have to buzz the intercom to have reception open the gates, then park in the visitors spot. Then you have to go up and check in, they give you a piece of paper to put on the dashboard of your vehicle, you go back down to drive your car to the lower floor for overnight parking. There are no signs for the carpark. Warning: if you use a GPS to find a carpark nearby, you most likely will get directions to the wilson carpark which is 2 doors up, and you will have to reverse all the way out of it as they will not let you in. Next, the buttons in the elevators do not match on all the elevators or the floors from the ground down. You get a key for your hotel door, but a swipe for the carpark. There is no wifi. There is no express checkout via the tv.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view to the river.

Just a block from George St and the Myer Centre (Queen St Mall), a couple of blocks from the Botanic Gardens and River, this is a great location.

Part residential tower and part apartment hotel the property is relatively new, well appointed and well maintained.

Lots of great food nearby ranging from sushi, 7/11s, Nandos and Gillhoolies Irish Pub up to Pane e Vino (my favourite spot in Brisbane) but being an apartment hotel there's no room service although the small but well appointed kitchens mean you can cook if you wish (full supermarkets are within a block or so).

Generally clean and well maintained. With comfortable beds, lots of pillows, tv, stereo etc. Internet is available for about $25-30 per day and while not blindingly fast is adequate.

Like all Oaks properties bookings and reception are pretty hit and miss so be patient and bring copies of booking confirmations etc.

The property offers limited parking for $20 per day - much cheaper than commercial parks - and with the $100+ return cab fare from the airport a hire car (or your own) becomes a good option and increases flexibility.

Room Tip: Rooms below the 14th floor have very limited views. Ask for a high room with a view of the Botanic G...
