It was great stay, quiet, clean and comfy. I'd stay there again without hesitation. The breakfasts were very nice and the breakfast nook was quite pleasant. The owners are a wealth of information and really are great hosts. Enjoy your stay!

This is a small Bread and Breakfast with friendly and helpful hosts. Very close to Downtown (shopping) and Chinatown (food). 30-40 min by foot to South Bank and museums. 15 min by foot to Roma Street botanical gardens. Friendly atmosphere, lovely small garden to relax, very tasty and variable breakfast. Free internet (WiFi), TV, fridge, coffee and tea facilities in room and additionally in the dining room. Very quiet. Rooms are small and sometimes lack enough place to put own staff, but cozy and decorated with love. I would recommend this place.

I had to meet a friend that was arriving early morning from overseas so I decided to stay in Brisbane overnight to save a long early morning drive. City hotels were very expensive, but then I discovered One Thornbury. What a delightful Bed and Breakfast. It is a very old Queenslander house that has been beautifully restored. The rooms are well furnished with private ensuite bathroom stocked with wonderful large fluffy towels, very comfortable double bed, air conditioning if required, a very well stocked mini bar, free tea and plunger coffee and a good size TV. My room was a budget room which was excellent, so the de luxe rooms must be fabulous. The guest lounge is in a delightful garden setting with a rain shower water feature which adds a very tranquil ambiance. Breakfast is a excellent buffet served in the garden. For dinner I walked for ten minutes into the heart of the Brisbane city café area with about 50 places to choose from. The hosts Geoff and Kerrie were extremely accommodating which added to a very delightful evening. I can highly recommend as a very affordable stay right on the city edge.

This bed and breakfast is well located and is easy walking distance to the city, restaurants and the river walk. Charming old Queenslander. Welcoming, accommodating and considerate hosts. Great breakfasts!!!

Overall, I thought the hotel was very beautiful on the inside and the rooms very comfortable. The included breakfast and WiFi were also nice perks. However my check-in was slightly mismanaged and I found a few items that should have been cleaned out in my room. The location is fairly close to Brisbane center city but if one isn't a big walker or doesn't have a car it might be far. Also the surrounding neighborhood is largely residential making it a trip for food or other items.

I enjoyed the room, a Superior King, and I believe room number 1 right near the front door. The room was beautiful and well decorated yet with all amenities you might want, a big tv, refrigerator and accompanied by an elegant bathroom. The bed was very comfortable as well the many pillows. The walls are very thin so something to consider as you can hear guests next door as if they are in your own room, though this wasn't very bothersome and didn't affect my sleep. The free WiFi was easy to use and fast enough for most types of connections. The free breakfast served on a patio downstairs was a nice addition and I enjoyed the fruit, juice, cereals and muffin I had.

Though the website which I used to book (Hotels.com) didn't specify, the hotel's check-in was a bit more complex than your normal hotel since this is a small B&B. I arrived around 5:30pm at the hotel but the owners had the wrong sign on the door which said they were out so I tried to call the number for the code to get in to the hotel but no one picked up. I then tried to normal number and thankfully someone picked up and came and opened the door. If I didn't have a phone that could call Australian numbers I am not sure what I would have done. That being said, everything else was very nice with the hotel aside from a used tea bag on the floor and some old cheese in the refrigerator, neither of which affected me stay.

Had a double room with en suite bathroom in this traditional Queenslander house built in 1886. Located in Spring Hill, which is just above Brisbane's Central Business District. Geoff and Kerrie were very welcoming and helpful; price included breakfast, although if I have one criticism it's that the breakfast room/lounge downstairs is rather chilly in the Australian winter mornings, as it's open to the elements; also the massive widescreen TV in the room rather detracts from what would be a nice cosy quiet atmosphere. But that aside, I have no hesitation in recommending One Thornbury.
