“Fantastic Apartment”
Reviewed 2 August 2007

We had never been to Cairns before, so did not know what to expect, let alone the lay of the city, as we come from New Zealand. We booked
a one bedroom apartment for 2 weeks and it was fantastic. The apartyment was spotless, new, with everything one needed to feel at home. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Our apartment was at the back of the complex and had full sun from 8am onwards, with a huge balcony. Great living, cooking and washing facilities. What you see is what you get.

We will not hesitate to return to this complex, which is so handy to eveything we could not believe it, we were really sorry to say goodbye. Well done Oaks

Booked 2 nights thru last minute WOT... for a studio bedroom at bargain price.
Location is good as it is a bit, jus a bit, away from noisy central, or beach front, streets. And Cairns is small enough so anything can be within walking reach.
Free and secure parking comes with the stay.
Reception is efficient.
Room is immaculate and very nicely appointed. Every litle thing is provided.
Large balcony where we had meals very comfortably.

We also agree to say that rooftop pool has a 360° over the city but it surely can accommodate some polar bears, but not any homo erectus these days.

Very good place to stay.

Stay here! You will love it!
We stayed 3 nights in a one bedroom apartment on the 6th floor & i gotta tell ya, the view (although it overlooked the mountains & city - not the river), the apartment, room facilities, location was fantastic. although i found the king-size bed a little hard, it was a very comfortable place to stay & very roomy you could live in it.

The room felt as though we were the first to stay in it.. so clean & immaculate & 2 air conds, 3 ceiling fans, comfy lounge etc etc. just walking minutes from the esplanade eateries, casino & city centre, i cant see why anyone would pay triple the price & stay at the international or reef casino when you have this place no more than a 3 iron away from everything!

The only downfall if you would want to get picky is the pool on the roof (7th floor). Its outside under a sail shade & the water is as cold as a mother-in-law's kiss! & would be no bigger than an AFL oval goalsquare. But the BBQ facility & view is brilliant & on a hot day is a nice place to catch some sun.

We put up for a few nights at this centrally located Cairns branch of this Aussie chain while transitting through Cairns. If you stay at a few of their places you'll notice the formula - relatively anonymous but well-kept aparthotel. We had booked a 2 bed apartment but that's really a one (ensuite) bedroom apartment and a larger sitting/dining area attached to a one bedroom studio. The outer door opens onto a central hallway between the two apartments and you can jam the doorway into the studio open if staying with kids -but it wasn't really what we expected. If you're kids are younger than ours you might find they don't much care for the longish distance from their room to your bedroom. Of all the Quays places we stayed, this probably was the most basic -pool was small and cold and there weren't really any other facilities aside from a very friendly and helpful front desk. The building is handy for shops and not far from the Espalanade - with a variety of nearby sushi bars and restaurants (yum!yum!)serving the MANY visiting Japanese - without exposing you to the full awful tackiness of Cairns. There is a coffeehouse across the street for breakfast an various eateries (including an excellent French restaurant) in the immediate vicinity. If transitting (and passing through Cairns is probably to see Cairns at its best) it's a moderately-priced, clean, well-equipped base for a few nights. We probably won't be back to Cairns but if we did -this is a fine place to stop over while there.

The City Quays in Cairns was an excellent base for attending a meeting at the nearby conference centre. The rooms are new, clean and well equipped. The small kitchen area was a great facility and a group of brits had a great ozzie barbeque on the roof. Recommended.

Ok.. so it aint the Ritz but....

I stayed here for a conference for 4 nights in a studio room, for these purposes hotel was good.

Rooms - Near new, and spotless, not somewhere you would want to spend hours, but hey who goes on holiday to sit in a hotel room. Bathroom was clean with a good shower. Only complaint, the bed was hard as a rock.

Amenities - Rooftop pool and BBQ area was good, the provide additional towels for swimming at reception. Room had a Microware and Fridge.

Staff - Alway cheery and helpful

Location - Close to convention centre, reef terminal and just far enough off the main drag to be relatively quiet, but only a couple of minutes walk from all the action

Price - is the clincher here, it is a good hotel for a great price. I recommend it.

The location of this hotel was excellent, BUT the little things were missing. We had a one bedroom apartment which did provide microwave and oven etc but we had to ask for a toaster. The cleaning of the rooms was done about 2.00 in the afternoon and this only after I rung up reception to get it done. We ran out of towells and had to ask for more and then every day had to re ask for more than the usual amount of one per person, which was not enough for three adults who apart from swimming also was into running etc. Ran out of toilet paper, tissues, soap, dish washing liquid etc. No pens and pads to write down any notes. Not decent TV chanels and no TV guide. Generally we found for the money we paid it was definitely not worth it.
