“Wow, more than expected”
Reviewed 27 September 2013

I had never done a full day Indigenous tour before doing the 1 day Daintree Dreaming tour with our guide Cravel. We started the day by being picked up in our comfortable vehicle and were whisked away to visit the studio of Brian (Binna) at his studio, Janbal. I was introduced to dot painting and took away a key chain that I had painted with original Indigenous paints. From there I went to Mossman Gorge to experience the beautiful Daintree rainforest with my guide Roy. I learned about the flora, fauna and customs of the local Kuku Yalanji community. After lunch at the Mossman Gorge Centre, it was on to hunting and gathering with Indigenous guide, Brandon. Into the waters at Cooya Beach to hunt for fish, shell fish, mussels and the likes. Once we had gathered enough, it was over to Brandon's parents house, across from the beach, for tea, muffins and the cooked sample of the catch which Brandon prepared beautifully. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this trip it was a delightful day.

My daughter and I went on our 1 day tour with our fantastic and extemely knowledgable guide Cathy. We had a fantastic and memorable experience of this area, seeing dingo's, crocodiles and educated well on the history of this beautiful part of Australia. All meals for the day were lovely. We would highly reccomend this trip to everyone who would love to explore this part of Australia, we went away very impressed with all aspects of the day. Thankyou to Cathy for showing us such a beautiful area.

“Cairns to Cooktown 1 day tour”
Reviewed 1 May 2013

As I depart on the one day tour to Cooktown, Cathy, our driver/tour guide announced that she was 'born and bred in the Daintree, so we wouldn't get lost'. A comforting feeling when one sets out to some of Australia's remote areas with opposing landscapes as we cross from the lush coastal rainforest over the mountains of the Great Dividing Range to the drier savanah grasslands. The changable weather in the area can also make the trip very interesting. There were plenty of stops for photos and visits to the unique pubs of FNQ full of history and characters who have lived and those who presently live in these parts. Cathy was very knowledgable of the area both past and present and told extraordinary stories of the many early foreign arrivals and how they traversed the inhospitable land in order to search for gold. Cooktown is obviously proud of it's historical namesake and is nestled in a picturesque bay, which can be viewed from the top of a hill where Captain Cook went to map the location.

I totally recommend this trip as a must for your visit to Far North Queensland. In one day you become immersed in the ambience of this exceptional area.

“Want to see the real Australia?”
Reviewed 24 November 2012

We took the 1 day 4WD Cooktown Adventure, and they really pack a lot into one day! We were taken through some of the most gorgeous scenery, through the rainforest, over babbling creeks and over mountain ranges. The travel guide and driver, Mark, was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable (and funny!) and pointed out loads of great sights, historical points and creatures, even taking the time to turn back so we could get out and take a closer look at a roaming echidna. We had some delicious warm scones straight out of the oven for morning tea and stopped for lunch at the Lions Den Hotel, which is really quirky (just take a look at all the oddities on the walls!) and served delicious food. Cooktown is something else, almost looking like it's been frozen in time. If you want to see a lot of Northern Queensland in one day, I would advise taking this trip. You would miss out on the knowledge of Mark (or any of the other tour guides) if you drove yourself, and would miss all the interesting features of the trip. It was such a full day that we were exhausted by the end (in a good way) so it was nice to have someone drive you back as well. And if you need any more encouragement to take this trip, it was even featured on Queensland Weekender recently!
