Cairns Holiday Park

I, like many travellers have ventured up and down the east coast of Australia. Like many, I only slept in my tent.

When I arrived in the northern tropical hub of Cairns, I wanted to camp somewhere safe and close to the city centre. I opted for Cairns Holiday Park at it was situated just 3 km's from the busy centre, and very close to bus stops.

Upon arrival, I was greeted by extremely friendly staff members in a large reception which also acted as a tour guides office with many trips and recommendations. Whilst taking my booking, I was given my own bag full of maps, flyers and useful information about Cairns and surrounding areas. There was also a very fairly priced shop with a great selection of foods and drinks.

The gardens and layout are beautiful, with lots of trees and nice plants. I was booked into the camp area, which had lots of space and was never over crowded as management respect you need your space.

The outdoor camp kitchen is the biggest id ever seen with many tables, barbecues/cooking hobs and fridges. It is very clean and there were very few bugs compared with other places I stayed. Also there was a free goodies shelf where people would leave camping equipment and food for others to take.

The showers and toilets were modern and cleaned everyday. The water was always hot and the water pressure decent.

I stayed for 2 months as I loved Cairns. Lots of young vibrant people camped there too along with the older people in campervans who always said they never wanted to leave.

kitchen area lights went out at ten with the area to be cleared after 11 and there was a security guy there so never any trouble or excess noise at night. The tv room was available all night however.

Would definitely stay again.

From the start Roz was very helpful. I had a very late check in (1.30am which I let her know in advance) but it wasn't a problem. I stayed on my own in one of the lodgings (which can accommodate 3 people) and it was clean, and towels and sheets were provided, also a fridge, TV, wardrobe, kettle with a few tea bags/coffee, air conditioning and free wifi. The bed was very comfy. The communal toilets for the lodgings, separated into women's showers and toilet, and separate facilities for men were next door, as was a sink, microwave and BBQ, with laundry facilities also nearby and a useful shop at reception, with internet and a printer. Larger lodgings have en suite bathrooms. The holiday park is tranquil and is on the edge of Cairns but there are several buses that go along Sheridan Street nearby that take 5 mins to get into the centre, or plenty of taxis to get you back at night. It was nice to be out of the noisy centre, and it is on the right side of Cairns for the airport. A shuttle bus can be booked from or to the airport. The ladies at reception were very helpful with advice about transport and trips, which could be booked direct from there. A fantastic place to stay, great value for money, I will be going back there.

A great holiday park suitable for all kinds of camping and campers situated near Cairns CBD. The staff were excellent, incredibly helpful and all the parks facilities were well maintained. Good kitchen, swimming pool and also some very reasonably priced lodges. Wide mix of traveller age and situation.

We have stayed at the park a couple of times. The staff are so friendly and helpful even when we changed bookings at the last minute. Lovely clean facilities. The park is well run and maintained. Very quiet at night .
Will definitely go back.

My wife and I were camping. The site was super hard from all the compaction resulting in a couple of bent pegs. Because the park caters for a lot of campervans and RVs, the park is largely internal droveways and was quite loud for a camper and hard to get to sleep. The park is beautifully landscaped and the amenities were great/clean.

As soon as we walked into reception we were greeted by extremely friendly staff who were so enthusiastic and helpful. Bob and Roz are great Park Managers and know everything you need to know about Cairns and what to do! We booked into deep sea fishing charter, reef trip on a sail boat, Kuranda trip, island visit and another reef trip because we loved it so much!
We stayed in a studio for a week. Its not huge with just a double bed, bunk on top, couch, bar fridge and tv (fox!) but it was so perfect because you dont need to spend much time inside - its great for sleeping (really comfy), storing all your stuff and keeping your food cold. We did a grocery shop at the start of the week so we could save money on breakfasts and dinners. This accommodation option is so great - you have your own little section of the park with BBQs, sink and amenities. The bathroom and toilet are nice and clean. The bbq worked good too - we even cooked a freshly caught spotted mackeral for dinner on 2 of our nights! Theres a beautiful pool on site that we swam in after a long day out - very shaded and good temperature! We walked into town most days - about 45 min walk along the Esplanade. This takes you to the awesome lagoon. It was nice that everything was so close! A taxi only cost $15 max but usually less. Also the botanical gardens are only a short walk away - enjoyed the nature and views from the top of the hill. I could go on and on but in summary, this park is the perfect place to go if you want a tropical paradise type pf holiday whilst staying in a friendly relaxed holiday park, then definitely stay here.
