Cafe Thailand is certainly more affordable and serves good portions as the other reviewers point out in this area of Cairns. The service is really good and everything is brought out with a smile. At least that is a good start.
We ordered the spring rolls and the vegetable Tom Yum soup for starters. Both were very good. But then the mains really were just average. The prawn fried rice , although with more prawns than the regular Thai restaurant in Sydney, was sweet. My partner had the Vegetable noodle stir fry which I again found too sweet. I had the spicy steamed fish which was nothing to ride home about. I guess I was expecting a bit more zing in the flavours and/or expecting a dish comparable to my local Thai place which is a favorite. In any case, if you are tired and want a really solid (and big!) Thai meal this place will not disappoint. But if you are very delicately balanced flavours, may be try another place.
