Made the day trip drive from Port Douglas and was left scratching my head a bit and wishing I'd just spent the day relaxing!

Maybe I missed the point, and also the weather wasn't great, but the scenery wasn't all that and there weren't too many attractions I was concerned with.

We just spent 3 nights at Mt Quincan Crater Retreat in the Atherton Tablelands, Queensland, Australia.

What a fantastic experience.

The rainforest tree house accommodation was superb. Beautiful bush walks in the rainforest and crater. Fantastic wild life viewing including the rare Lumholtz Tree Kangaroo.

A very restful and enjoyable break, thanks to hosts Dennis and Louise.

Very short dive from Millaa Millaa and then an easy 5-10 minute walk on concrete pathway with steps to the base of the falls. Stunning rainforest pool with the waterfall cascading into a deeper section which was very refreshing to swim in. Great for kids.

Great trip, nice to catch the train to Atherton tablelands and the chair lift back. If you get a combo ticket they will pick you up and return you to your hotel.
It is a good day out.

We got in our car at lunch time and drove up the highway to Atherton with no expectations. The ride up was cool and curvy...would have been great with a convertible. There isn't really much to see in terms of attractions, but it was still a nice experience. Tablelands is pretty much farming communities which is not super exciting, but it does give you a different perspective of Australia's landscape. Rent a convertible on a nice day and you will have a great time. If you like curves and speed, take the Gillies Highway back down to Cairns. AMAZING, but not for the motion sickness traveler.
