“Great for fresh fruit and vege if you are self catering”

These are pretty much a fruit and vege market. If you expect more than that you will be disappointed. Having said that the quality, range and price for the produce is excellent and it is well worth a visit to stock up if you are self catering. Also worth visiting the stalls selling cooked food - had the best port buns whilst we were there.

A word of warning about the car park - there aren't many spaces, it is quite cramped and there doesn't seem to be a lot change over of cars. You probably won't need more than an hour at the markets - suggest you park on the street if you can find a space.

Still a tick off list item when visiting Cairns but don't expect something large with lots of stalls & goods to browse. 90% is fruit & veg, a few coffee / snack shops (nice Hare Krishna stall with beautiful pastries, pies) only a small few stalls offering goods but every 2nd stall of a non food item is of the same thing (mainly pearls, jewellery). 2hr free parking (drive slightly past the fruit & veg & entrance is on left hand side). If you get a park on street in front of market,it's metered parking from 8:30am. Opens 6:30am, we arrived 7:40am left @ 8:15am & got free parking. Don't expect to spend more than 1 hr there.

Fruit and vegetables were fresh, cheap and tropical. Bus transport to and from Trinity Beach was easy.

if youve been to any good market such as Adelaide central market in south australia you will be extremely disapointed with rustys. a few beads, a bit of seafood and cheese, lots of fruit and veg but little else. where was the meat, the coffee, the deli, local produce??????? we had high hopes but left after about 10 minutes.

Rusty's Markets are fantastic! Fresh fruit and vegetables and lots of produce from the far north like avocados and bananas are so cheap. They have little tiny bananas that are so cute smaller than lady fingers and are so delicious. Went past the tarot card reader with a friend and we decided to get a reading for fun. The woman was the rudest I've ever encountered anywhere in the world! Not only was she disinterested (she kept knitting) as we tried to ask if she was free, but she said that she didn't want to give us one and threw us out! What a shame that she wrecked our wonderful experience that we were having all morning talking to stall holders, sampling the produce and buying up for our stay in Cairns. You have to go past the bread stall and see Alan who makes half spelt half dark rye it's soooo delicious! He's by the Grafton Street entrance. I bought four loaves to take home with me. Best value in Cairns, friendly atmosphere, terrific vibe, and you can feel everybody loves being there. Such a shame the tarot card reader spoilt our morning and whereas others love being there she clearly doesn't. I don't know why people need to be so rude, especially when it's your business. Cairns has lots of tourists, and to make them feel like she made us feel is very sad. On a happier note, we did find another friendlier tarot card reader, a guy this time, in Cairns Central and ended up getting a great reading that was value for money - for fun - and it was fun!
